if you need to get home to eat why not just have a meal relief and eat then when you get home you wont have to worry about that you can just go pick you daughter up. Face it not having a meal relief and people rushing is killing the job and in time you wont be able to pick your daughter up cos they will make sure you finish later. I can see it, I just wish other people could.

Used to do that, but 1, it makes me feel sick, you wouldnt go to a gym straight after a meal would you? and 2 I much prefer eating in the comfort of my own home with me tired feet up watching Sky Sports News. What time we take our break is neither here nor there tbh, but I aint walking the streets feeling sick, no chance.

thats fine mclovin its your choice at the end of the day, but dont come here whinging when we are doing more absorbing and being bullied into it. Its your choice and the majority of people do things the way you do it but we have to face it that the only people to blame for the job going downhill are ourselves.

Personally, I don't see a problem with taking your break at the end, as long as you are finished 40 minutes before your official finish time.

From my own point of view, if I took even 20 minutes I'd have people waiting for bags. And if I took the full 40 minutes, by the time I'd taken the van back and made my way home, I'd run the risk of not being at school in time to pick my son up.

I do however park up for 10 minutes at my last bag drop (ie I know none of my chaps will be waiting) and eat my sarnies, and I perhaps sit in the van for 5 minutes before starting my 1 hour's worth of foot delivery at the end, so arguably I do have a break. Although, I'm sure to qualify as a break, it should be taken away from the vehicle?

The Way Forward Agreement says:

Fill-time meal break entitlements

All full-time employees working in delivery offices on a 40-hour gross week over five or six days will generally have a standard entitlement to 40 minutes meal break per day and 30 minutes on the shorter day (normally Saturday) of a six day attendance, exclusive of any grace breaks (see below).

Less than 2 hours 30 minutes none (a 10 min grace break should be provided if work permits)
2 hours 30 to 3 hours 10 mins 10
3 hours 1 to 3 hours 30 15 mins 15
3 hours 31 to 4 hours 59 20 mins 20
5 hours to 7 hours 30 mins 30
7 hours 1 to 8 hours 59 40 mins 40 or 20 + 20
9 hours to 10 hours 59 50 mins 30 + 20
11 hours to 12 hours 59 60 mins 40 + 20 or 30 + 30
13 hours or longer 70 mins 40 + 30

It says (full time employees) do these entitements apply to part timers?

well by law anyone that works over 6 hrs is entitled to a 20min break, even though the royal mail give us more because of the nature of our job. So even part timers are entitled to a break depending on the hours they work. I suppose anything over the legal requirement if there is no agreement in place for part time staff is at your managers discression.

So how do PTers take their break if they start at say 9, already prepped in and raring??? to go.

Halfway through their working day they'd be somewhere on there delivery, and your not allowed to deviate from your delivery apparently.

One lad at our place used to take his break before he started.
