The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.

Razor, none of us want to make christmas into a bad thing for the people we deliver to, but just think how many have come out and supported you during the last strikes. How many have dug into their pockets and paid into the support funds. The point is that unless someone is directly effected by the strikes. (ie they have a very important letter or packet that hasn,t been delivered or reached its destination) none of them give a hoot. And what if Royal Mail continue with their destruction of this company. You may well get made redundant. Will your customers give a toss. No, all you will get is I am sorry you are leaving us. The facts remain that if RM continue to disregard the agreement, we must use all of our strengths to repel their onslaught, and if this means making life a little unbearable for the general public during December, then so beit. They will thank us in the long run for saving a service that left in the current government and managements hands will be totally destroyed and it will be only the rich again that can afford to pay for what will come after.

I always thought that would be the best way forward too, striking only seemed to put more weight on my shoulder in the days after the strike. The problem there is that it is very difficult to control, how long would people adhere to it ?
Which gives RM a genuine reason to warn and sack people. :confused

No neither me or my office will go on strike again. My office is in the North West and despite promises our local branch could not be bothered to attend any meetings we arranged. The area rep is absent covering the divisonal rep and the cwu nationally have sold us out because they can not afford a prolonged dispute, because they have squandered our money.

Why do some people on here concern themselves about their customers? start thinking about yourself because when the Royal fail cull starts and when you are paid off what are your customers going to do for you, i'll tell you.......................F#CK ALL...................... so don't worry about them.

I would strike, but how long would we have to go out for? After all many areas have been out most of this year and it took a National strike to get RM to the table. They then come up with this draft agreement, to which not many people was convinced it was a good one. So how do we know that if we strike now things are going to get any better??

I`ve done over 20 years and have always supported IA. Unfortunatly quite alot of my colleagues at my DO will these days cross the iine and work through strikes and gleefully clock up extra OT.Unless the action called is national, i and alot of others who have always answered the CWUs call, will see it as a total waste of time to support any further local walkouts. Sad but true.

Heaven for RM would be having a valid reason to sack tens of thousands of staff. Pensions, FT contracts, VR payments, Sick Pay, all things that cost a fortune would be gone just like that.

I do not agree with go slows, but it would take one hell of an operation to get the evidence that even 50% (60,000) were going slow on purpose. If we are going to be paid for a days work, then we should be prepared to carry out that work honestly, despite the crap we get from managers. However a ban on overtime, work to rule on top of nationally called strike days will block the system up in no time, even come January, because from past experience mail volumes are still quite intense right up to April/May. Lets not get into a situation where RM have any cause at all to question our commitment when we are at work. Let them fall on the sword.

In our office, we are well informed, have excellent reps, abysmal managers, and know full well this is just a truce in the war - there are many battles to fight yet and we will fight them.

More strikes? Bring it on!
