It would mean striking right through Christmas and would we still have the leverage or membership support in january?

the public should then be informed that royal mail's so called plans for modernisation include the public getting their mail even later which nobody wants.
the union at the top must realise that in modern day industrial action the union's dont get a fair shout from the majority of the media so puting an advert in the national papers is the only way we will get our point across.

The CWU executive committee's role is supposed to be to act in accordance with our wishes. That's why we pay our subs.

If the mood amongst the members is to resume the strikes, and the mood on the committee is to keep getting bogged down in talks well, sorry, PEC members, it is NOT our role to act in accordance with YOUR wishes. I think the first thing the Union must do is put its paying customers, yes us, fully in the picture.

I only get to read snippets of what RM plans are through coming on here - and of course a lot can end up as chinese whispers.

The leadership must know pretty well what RM's plans are but we hear nothing.

The thing that infuriates me most about this job is a total lack of transparency from both my employer and my union.

If 've got a pretty decent chance of losing my job ( my seniority is in the 80's out of 100) by this time next year then maybe the CWU or RM could do the decent thing and let me know.

I will never cross a picket line through principle.
Principle only would stop me crossing next time, not belief or support for the people I pay to represent me.

Can someone tell me why we should go out on strike for london, it seems london want to reverse everything that has happened in the last year, 4 day weeks on delivery? and working 1 day on s/a, when most of the country is on a 5 day week.

This isn't true. We understand the need for change and we aren't fighting against modernisation. What we want is for the CWU to be part of that change instead of Royal Mail implementing change without agreement.

We all know that if Royal Mail are left to do as they please we will suffer because of it. You only have to look at some of the plans proposed by Royal Mail to see that they clearly don't care about us and what these changes would mean for us.

And how can we move forward without first addressing issues of concern such as bullying, which is quite common. It would seem that the only way to make Royal Mail listen is to strike - unfortunately... what other option do we have?

If Royal Mail aren't pressured into addressing issues of workload and bullying now we will suffer in the future; and by that time we wont have a Union to fight for us.

The real question is; do you want a Union? Because if people aren't going to support the Union now we will then be at the mercy of Royal Mail management... and you know what that would mean for us I'm sure.

We are striking for our futures. Let's at least fight and get some kind of agreement instead allowing Royal Mail to further attack our terms and conditions.

The only part of that post i agree with is the last line but unfortunately i fear we have little choice now.
HQ and the PEC appear to have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory yet again.
It is obviously down to the membership to once again turn this around.
If I/A is re-instated it will be because the talks are going nowhere not because of the problems in D/Os and M/Cs around the country.
Then we will have nothing to lose
A bit of honesty from the union on this point would have gone a long way.
