Bit unfair to blame Billy Hayes. Dave Ward is the guy in charge of Royal Mail.
Feel sorry for the Union in general .. the area reps and local reps etc. , but fact is if we lose this one, it's time for Dave Ward to step down - We would need a fresh start and fresh IDEAS .

IF we lose this? The die was cast the day they called off the strikes - there's no going back - we have to hope that these munchkins are going to get some sort of deal that doesn't have us all riding bare arsed to London.londonboy wrote:Bit unfair to blame Billy Hayes. Agreed!! And Dave Ward is a London man! Looks like London is isolated (again). Twice in 2 years this f**ing union has allowed us to be shafted. Why the hell did they allow the nationwide strike to be called off at the last minute? We had them by the balls. Nobody nationwide is gonna support London any more and we in London have nothing without national support. We did 15 weeks and not a sod in the papers until the threat of national support. Massive majority vote but the bloody union misjudge again!! Once (2 years ago) is mistake - Twice is unforgiveable!!

Not misjudged rebel, not misjudged at all - it was totally managed. They didn't want to call a strike in the first place and took the first opportunity they could to end it. They feel that any interruption of service reflects badly on the Union and consequently in the forthcoming "real" as opposed to "interim" deal there is a clause which states that any future negotiations and disputes will be concluded "without interruption of service" - or a no strike deal.rebel wrote:Agreed!! The leadership have abandoned London by calling off the strikes because there isn't a cat in hells chance of there being anything like the solidarity shown on the last call - hey welcome to the club.
