Royal Mail Campaign T-Shirts As part of the Royal Mail Dispute – 07 campaign, the CWU has produced a campaign t-shirt (see attached) that encapsulates an image from a CWU picket line on the first day of industrial action.
Now that is all very good BUT What the f*** is going on. The weeks up to the first strike bombarded with mail shots. If I was not on this site how would I have found out I was to be on strike on Friday? ( our rep is crap) What has happened to the CWU communications? How did the last strike hurt RM ? No one is telling.I am playing Devils advocate here but that is what I am listening to at work and unless the CWU improves its communication skills it will loose all but the most determined and all we will get is a fancy T-Shirt!!!
Most members have an email account could the CWU have not sent an update every couple of days? It could thank members/update them/ INFORM them
The CWU had weeks before to organize and from what I have witnessed so far are not winning the battle of the minds of the members
Fair points mate. They should be doing everything possible to keep up the pressure on Royal Mail and encouraging waverers not to give up and strike breakers to see sense.
The Industrial Workers of the World. The union whose members never scab!
"The working class and the employing class have nothing in common."
I e-mailed cwu last tuesday(3/7/07).Saying that due to the large number of strike breakers in our office,it would be a good idea to get someone down from H/Q to have a talk to them.
So far no response. The feeling i get is that even more will work this time. The union as got to get it's act together-and quick.

Nobody , but nobody , can be ignorant of what Leighton & Crozier want to do to our jobs , our pay , our conditions of work. We
shouldn't need a bleedin' mailshot from the CWU to keep reminding us.
I'd say , that it's the strike breakers in your office that needs to get their act together, and pretty damn quick too.
If they couldn't be bothered to join the 95% of their colleagues for one , yes one , measly days strike, I doubt a visit from Dave
Ward himself would make any difference , and if it did , they'd be out for the strike day after his visit , then spend every waking
moment desperately trying to find an excuse to betray their comrades.
They need to do some hard thinking about what sort of future they want for themselves and their families. Either one in which they
have some input into deciding , or one that Leighton & Crozier want to impose on them, one which will see them on the "market rate".
spot on dirty harry everybody should know whats at stake this so called flexability will see the end of the job as we know it.
postpeople had better get ready to stand up and fight or the gruesome twosome will go through the decent conditions we have left like a dose of salts.
the ultimate aim is to break the union then start imposing horrendous cuts on the workforce.
being on strike is not easy but the alternative does'nt bear thinking about
Well said DH, got them in my office one not even lost a days pay but lost the chance of working his day off. Told me only able to do 1 more as he is feeling the pinch already, what the hell is up with these people what is he gonna do when he won't know what time he will finish, what will he do when he has to cover others sick and holidays, not to mention NO working his day off and No overtime. Jeeze why can they not see further than next weeks wages!!

Even if I lived to be a thousand , I'd never understand people like your colleague, shelanda.
People like them are nothing but a conman's dream , there to be exploited , there to be ripped-off , how they cannot seem able to see
beyond today, is a mystery to many of us.
sounds tough darude don't you have a branch sec or area reps or anything to help out? we're going to produce a leaflet for people who we think might waver, had 100% before but manager istrying to lean on people who really need themoney. its a good idea to ask hq or region or branch for help, the weaker offices need support for sure, can't just write off people becaue they scab, instead got to ask how wecan stop em from doing it.
I have a question to all the people who say they can't afford to lose a days pay. IF THIS PAY DEAL GOES THROUGH HOW WILL YOU MANAGE WHEN YOUR EARLY SHIFT MONEY GOES AND YOU END UP LOSING THOUSAND'S OVER THE COMING YEARS ?.
Big Daz wrote:RM are claiming that the early morning shift allowance is ringfenced and will form part of the next payround. thats in writing on a RM notice board
CWU say we lose it alltogether
Whats going on?
I thought the CWU said you'll get it for 3 years depending on service.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Well said mate, i'm right behind you on this one. The strike breakers need to really think, long and hard about just what they are doing.
