Yes you would think so wouldn't you - and the idea is quite good - BUT as per usual RM manage to screw up a perfectly good system by overloading them. These duties, well at least ours, were not risk assessed or created as individual park and loop duties - oh no - they were 2 duties bolted together, plus all the packets from the two duties, the specials and the tracked items and in some cases the extra packets from other duties which aren't "looped" AND part of the bulk duties that disappeared under the revision - I think that also answers the question of whether or not we have strong representation :mad

I wouldn't worry about a van, you won't be getting one. Any delivery within 1 mile of the depot will be using a HCT, which will be pushed out AND back. Does the 575 include the 1/3rd of another duty?

Yours will be the HCT then or the powered HCT if you have slopes or the donkey, horse and cart or whatever passes for modernisation in this company.

You will have plenty spaces for vans,no private cars on delivery means they can park them in the staff car park or on your driveway. :whistle
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

yes 575 includes the 1/3rd of the other delivery and the 30 odd calls i have to lapse from another duty. The HCT is no use either a 1/5 of the pavements on my delivery are to narrow to use one .. the floater that covers my duty tried it ... said it was a mare and it took 45 minute longer to do :hmmmm

If you have 575 now - how many was it before? To give you some idea as to what is on the horizon - my former delivery is 628 drops, it is now a park and loop, in addition to the 628, there is the summer/autumn efficiency which is part of another delivery, all the packets for the two duties, the tracked items, the specials and packets from another delivery from the same area which is not park and loop. You can imagine how hard that is and it is about to get worse. As for the narrow pavement and the extra 45 minutes ........................................

might be worth our while getting some of these rep's that want us to do even longer walk's to put their money where their mouth is and do the job for a couple of month's. i've started to think this union is so out of touch they ain't woth bothering with.

 Aye--and don't be misled by the 10 quid an hour carrot---sounds good, but the way they are slashing the hours we will be worse off. Can we not send a resounding vote of no confidence in Union leadership? They do not deserve the money they get for their appalling representation of us.Still no word from the top about how the R/M have broken the terms of the interim agreement--still no word of serving notice to strike again.Would be good if a demonstration could take place outside H/Q to show our complete dissapointment in that pair.

before the single daily delivery my walk was 416 calls or drops as some on here call them which took roughly 3 hrs to 3hrs 30mins depending on the volumes after the SDD was brought in my delivery leaped to 543 and lapsing has added a further 32 calls

and their is guys in my office with bigger deliveries than mine

You're not wrong. I don't deliver myself these days but I am still on the shop floor and I despair at the weight and size of packets a walking postperson is expected to take and the size of some deliveries and the inequality of them. There really is a need for these union bods to get off their arses and get down to delivery offices in the provinces and see how bad things really are.

don't like knocking the union but they really need to pull their head's out and take another sniff. if they go on like this they'll be out on their butt's.
