I still have my Bib Brace and yes when i wore them i wore very little under them,i have my fantastic warm coat with its knitted coller,i have my wollen jumper still fits i used to hand wash it and flat dry it then i found i could'nt wear it because it played havoc with my skin,my hubby was a telegram boy and i remember his white wet jacket and leggings and i can honestly say they use to smell yuk when wet,i have taken photos of him in all the diffrent uniforms he has had over 30 odd years, often causes me to chuckle as he was young fresh faced lad when i first knew him now hes an old f***t well worn down by the job

I remember threading lead seals and getting the oil off them on your hands then touching your face, no wonder us telegram boys were all spotty faced kids !!. And the lead seal 'squeezers' woe betide anyone who lost them. And when the vans came back from Bamber Bridge after a service and a repaint, repaint? I think they just dipped them in a vat of red paint and touched up the wheel arches with black, any empty bags that were left in the vehicle also got covered in red paint!!

My first piece of uniform was a white plastic coat, that went below the knees, and was so loud it deafened you. Most uncomfortable thing I have ever worn. It got bunged in my locker after one wear, and was dumped in a bin when my full uniform came through. I always liked the reefer jacket though, it was warm and smart, as well as good quality. Today's uniform is anything but smart in my opinion.

The grey trousers itched a bugger, especially when wet. I used to wear me pyjamas underneath. the plastic jerkin for telegram boys was warm but not very pleasing on the eye. brown glove,s were good. I was issued with a tremendous pair of boots on entry, leather soles the lot, only got the one pair though.
