"Even if Royal Mail loses only ten letters or parcels for every complaint it receives,"

I think you will find the majority of complaints concern single item loss.

"Nor is there a single penny of redress available for the inconvenience, stress and embarrassment caused by important documents disappearing into thin air."

Thought it was a special delivery? ;liar

He did get this right

"I exaggerate, of course."

The whole thing reads like a forum rant, very unprofesional :wave

Shabby poor excuse for journalism, full of half truth and supposition, then I noticed it was lifted from a newspaper owned by the owner of TNT, nuff said.

As most have said, just a rant from someone who has a vendetta against RM. The odd point here and there are fair comment, but i doubt half of this is true. He rants about the postbox being out of order and asking how that could possibly happen. Maybe the same happened as it did on my delivery with some retard sticking a lit firework in the box and the whole lot going up. Some people need to engage brain before opening their mouth. Remember when the government had those documents go missing, the knives were out ready to get stuck in until it emerged it was TNT, it was suddenly hushed up. I don't know about worst company but it's certainly got the worst management and the worst backers in this government. This is just some tory hack who wants us privatised :mad

More reasons for lost mail.

1)Items sent recorded mysteriously lost - no postperson chucks it throught the door - recipient lies saying not received.
2)Parcel left on doorstep, then stolen or recipent lies saying not received.

It all depends by what you mean 'regular' because I only remember a handful of hoarders.

Not forgetting the IB investigator who stole from cards.

Or the Manager recently convicted for the same thing.

Of course hiding loads of mail in a trailer at the back of an MC although not theft was certainly on the wrong side of the law, and actively massaging the QofS figures and finding out who was on the list for their area.

Wouldn't this then be classified as delay of mail? If so,and if true, then these managers should be sacked, surely?

It's bad enough when you hear about them sending the mail from one place to another to massage figures etc but this surely has to be investigated, to find out if this did/does happen and then have the appropriate action taken against these managers(?) After all if you did anything like this they'd soon jump on you claiming 'delay of mail' and we know that could possibly mean the sack for a lowly postie.. unlike a manager who can feasibly 'get away with it'... maybe?

I notice he doesn't mention the times we deliver mail which has the wrong, or often no number written on it. But there are no statistics kept for this and as it's something we all do as part of the job, and therefore something praiseworthy, he's hardly likely to.

journalists produce enough gas to fill a zeppelin and enough recyclable to keep all of UK in toilet paper
if they made the papers smaller say 4'' square that would cut out the middlemen.

How many of the complaints were due to mail collected by a third party via Down Stream Access ? :whistle

Can the deliverers of the DSA prove that RM had taken delivery of the complained of letters ? :no no

How many people have blamed RM with the phrase - -"oh it's in the post - - It must have got lost ;liar " ?

What about the stuff that is so poorly addressed that it cant be delivered correctly or at all and then doesn't even make it back to the sender due to lack of return address?
A driver in our office had to come to me for advice, he had a special delivery that was WRONGLY addressed by the sender, a well known rail company, who had sent tickets for a rail journey.
