AN inquest was due to open today after a "generous and friendly" village postman was found dead in Swansea woodland.
The 56-year-old man, named locally as Clive Blandford, was found dead in the Bishopston Valley area, close to his St Teilos Court home on Tuesday.
South Wales Police are investigating the death, but say there are no suspicious circumstances and are not looking for anyone in connection with the incident.
It is understood Mr Blandford committed suicide.
He was known in the community through his role as the secretary of the Joiners Arms pub cricket team.
A friend of Mr Blandford, who did not want to be named, told the Post: "Clive was a really nice guy.
"He was often raising money for the cricket team, and I bought raffle tickets off him a few times.
"He was often in The Joiners Arms pub — there for the social life more than anything. He was just a really friendly guy."
After the body of Mr Blandford was found, the area was cordoned off while police officers, forensics teams and photographers probed the scene.
A spokesman for the police said tests were being carried out.
He said: "Police in Swansea are investigating the sudden death of a 56-year-old man whose body was found at about 2pm on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, in a wooded area in the vicinity of Bishopston Valley.
"Police are not treating the death as suspicious, and are awaiting the results of a postmortem.
"HM Coroner and next of kin have been informed."
Tom Ridd, clerk of Bishopston Community Council, said: "The council would like to pass on their condolences to his family.
"I — and the rest of the council — knew him as the secretary of the Joiners Arms pub cricket team."

Very sorry to hear this sad news. Clive was a great opponent on the cricket field and great company off the pitch. He will be sadly missed.

Clive was a friend, fellow cricketer, stylish batsman and a born leader. Every day Clive brought such good cheer to people he met on his rounds or in the pub. A ready smile and an exceptionally talented wit made him one of the most endearing people I have met in my life. You will always be in my heart. To an absent friend who will always be remembered - cheers. Linda our thoughts are with you.
