We have been fooled once to often

At the end of the day the MEMBERS OF THE CWU were RIGHT, we all said that RM would not hold to a partial " form of words " deal. But you and others DEFENDED the PEC's decision to trust RM.

So have some humility and admit the MAJORITY of members could see what was going to happen and the leadership was wrong to trust RM to stick to any deal.

The CWU have thrown away both the members trust & the public support for the strikes, if we go out again, the public will think ( with the newspapers help )that its greedy, left wing & lazy london posties that want to strike & spoil christmas.

absolutely cut off king.....a week ago we were hearing of the "unanimous" support for the agreement from the PEC....

now they are flipflopping and saying they wanted striking to continue all along...

...let me see...ahh shucks folks, the rank and file have rumbled us and they are starting to pull their subs...how can we save our skins (jobs)....? I know, let's talk tough again.....

the general public are simply not going to believe the CWU when they say RM have broken the agreement...

...calling strikes will put the CWU into a death spiral that it will never recover from....

Edward your right it has to be national action afterall Royal Mail are breaking a national agreement.

Wrangeled and Cut of King you seem to be infering that we have lost the membership because we called of the strike. I wonder if you have held meetings with members this weeks i have in 4 differnt offices and once things are explained they understand. In London we have been out 18 days and those words on re -engagement , those words on returning the work to it parent office who have not seen the work for over 20 weeks , protecting idivduals who face dismissal was words which were worth getting back in on.

Now Royal Mail have made it clear they are not keeping to them then we have at least tried. Afterall this was never a quest to just members money by striking it was about reaching an agreement.

Now you cant both either join the fight to strike again or you can snipe on the sidelines its your choice.

Royal Mail are under pressure as they know that it them who broken the agreement and Barber will expose that.

I will snipe from the sidelines...I did my bit for the CWU and they did f***k all for me and my members....

I just hate to see the rank and file misled by a bunch of careerists who have failed miserably to improve the terms and conditions of those who pay their wages...

this will probably not be a popular opinion but it is an honest one.
I am like some on here, i didn't honestly believe RM would be good to their word, and thought that we should keep the momentum we had gained.
However, and it truly pains me to acknowledge this, i had to give them the chance to prove me right, and this they have done and are doing in full view of Brendan Barber, ACAS and soon the nation. Now in the near future when we get the chance to say the ones in charge at RM are dishonest , untrustworthy and deceitful careerists looking to sell off the nations post office to trouser significant share issues and bonuses, i may not be viewed as a disgruntled employee with an axe to grind, but possibly someone who was telling the truth all along. RM management may never be believed by the public again. Hopefully fingers crossed

Heres 1 reason bogstandard, the bullying is still continuing, weve had six suspended in our area since the joint statement was released. I think the anger to call off the strikes has subsided, now we realise nothing has changed i think most people see this as a pause in the war. tThe reasons we all went on strike are still there and im sure we will continue to strike if RM do not change track. havind said all that HQ need to drastically review their comms structure because most of the anger was because people thought HQ had agreed a no I/A before christmas, which is not the case, but why did it take 5 days for this to be explained to the members??

Tolhurst eh. Never any good at his job in the callers office apparently . Why would you give him more room to cause chaos? Over promoted and out of his depth, loyal attack dog who misread the script,oh I do like to be beside the seaside. I spot a fall guy being hung out to dry

May I suggest you change your signature Wranglered - I and a few members are aware of your current status as regards the CWU and Royal Mail but I don't think most are. Your views are of course important, but I also believe that making people aware of where you are coming from would also be beneficial.

My personal opinion of the supposed spat between Higson and Tolhurst is the classic good cop bad cop scenario.One is giving just enough to keep the executive interested, the other is pressing ahead with RM's real agenda. In some areas they are accepting everything the union is putting to them. In other areas there is no movement at all. They are splitting the membership again.

May I suggest you change your signature Wranglered - I and a few members are aware of your current status as regards the CWU and Royal Mail but I don't think most are. Your views are of course important, but I also believe that making people aware of where you are coming from would also be beneficial.

I don't know if anyone noticed the ads in the national papers by Royal Mail, the tenure of which was:

"We have agreement to re-establishment normal service with the Communications Workers Union blah blah blah, wonderful news for small businesses, large businesses and granny and her christmas cards"

The backdrop has been established by Royal Mail who are now the good guys BECAUSE the CWU has said RM have made concessions and that there is now the groundwork for a new understanding - then we go on strike again - hook, line and sinker I'd say.

WE,in the "rest of the country" have been bombarded with propaganda from
management telling us this is a London problem.

"They are lazy,their walks are only 2hrs long,they refuse to modernise and they don't do absporbtion."

We have ignored this nonsense and stood together.

You have no idea the damage a small innocent looking post like that can do.
