Is it the continue of lapsing coming under the "not locally agreed" part ?
I think its a range of issues and lapsing would come under it if it was brought in with EA.

AIUI the breaches are:

1. Continued use of Outhouses.
2. Continued refusal of Overtime.
3. Continued use of casuals beyond normal limits.
4. EA not being rolled back, or reviewed under the agreement.
5. Issues currently undergoing IR Framework not being reviewed with a view to agreement.

I think we all agree it was a mistake to "suspend" the strikes.
but if you were the PEC or Dave & Billy would you agree to resume the I/A.
Remember the PEC voted unanimously to accept this agreement
and Dave has said"No one can walk away from this agreement"
They either new this would happen and have a plan in place or they were very niave.
The other question is what would you want from this strike, another interim agreement ,or a full agreement whch would mean striking through chrismas.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

I don't agree suspending the strikes was a mistake.
Is it realistic to expect a full agreement on everything before xmas?
How long do you think an indefinite strike would hold?
Me, I would still be on the picket line on xmas eve but I think I would be very lonely.

I have to say that I am continually changing my mind on the calling off of the strikes.

I am hoping that DW and BH are playing a blinder and knew that RM could not be trusted and have plans in place to step the pressure up on Royal Mail to reach and actually act on a cast iron no going back agreement. If so then the CWU will become a powerful force both within RM for its members, but also outside for the Union movement as a whole.

However.

I also fear that the Union have been blind sided by a rampant Royal Mail management that had this all strategised and have always been 2 steps ahead of our side. I hope not as it would damage the CWU and its members for years at least and it would show the leadership as naive at best, and working against its members interests at worst.

They can do as they please, I won't be striking again - union had it's chance and fell right into RMs trap. The union are not looking after all members, only the select few - in my office where we've had agreed change (supposedly) nothing will change if a new agreement is reached between RM/CWU. I would stand to lose lose lose and gain f**k all, they won't remove absorption even now when we are booking o/t nearly everyday they just grumble about low mail volumes and staff not performing to standard. They will still come out with petty s**t everytime there's the slightest problem, nothing will change, the chance is gone for good.

The only thing we have right now is our union.
Against Royal Mail managements wishes the union is still there. It is the only thing between us and RM "modernisation".We achieved this through strike action.
If we need to strike again that strike action needs to be as solid if not more solid than before.
You have to decide which side you are on.
There is no third option.
Running away and criticising from the sidelines only helps Royal Mail.

That's called an open mind TBT,very rare and something to be proud of,using hope and fear sums it up for most of us.

Imagine it is the Battle of Hastings. We are the Normans, RM is Harolds army.
We are attacking,we think we are getting somewhere and the order comes to retreat.
Do we have a debate about whether this is the right tactic?
Do we refuse because we think we know better?
Do we desert because William has sold us down the river?
Or do we retreat and then take part in a glorious victory?
There is no point now debating the tactic of standing down the strikes. It was decided,it is history.Right or wrong we will never know for sure. But we do know we are in the middle of a fight and a disorganised and ill diciplined union will not win this fight.
Unity is strength.

concerned wrote:knew it....so RM make a statement saying no more strikes for the year as we have reached an agreement....they dont stick to it and you have the right to strike. But because it wasnt made public what the 'agreement' was and that IA is still valid - you will look like the unreasonable bad guys striking anyway even though you had an agreement (how the public will see it, not me!).....clever PR
All the customers I speak to are still with us, once explained whats going on they still back us coz they dont want to lose this service like a lot of other stuff with this government. We need to stick together, we showed RM that we were prepared to strike then we gave them a chance. Theyve f****d us and called our bluff so now we need a hard stance and see this through to the end. Nothing has changed from before, were still fighting for the same things and we were prepared to carry on then. To me this only makes me more mad at RM and more determined. We cant work this way forever.

Nice speech clashcityrocker :cuppa

Do you Know how William died,He fell off his horse, don't fall of yours it's a long way down.

At the last, it seems that the subjugation of England bore hard upon his mind. His dying words were recorded thus:

"May God forgive me, for I have taken that which was not mine ..."

"Goodbye Bill: I die like a true rebel. Don't waste any time mourning, organize! It is a hundred miles from here to Wyoming. Could you arrange to have my body hauled to the state line to be buried? I don't want to be found dead in Utah."
