Problem is people look short term.
If they actually sit down and work out how much they will get screwed over the next few years they will see that if they lose this one then they are f****d.
I cannot for the life of me understand people saying i dont know how long i can hold out or its costing me money.....we are all in the same boat FFS we are all losing money. Get a grip and stay strong or be f****d for the rest of your working life in Royal Mail.

With so much concern regarding how long posties can hold out without getting paid. Do the panel think that the union should up the ante and go for a 3 or 5 day strike to really push RM back to the table?

As others have mentioned on this board 5 days without pay is 5 days without pay even if it is spread over several weeks.

I am not convinced the 1 day strikes are having much effect on both RM or the Public.

working in an office that still seems to be shafted because of 1 single days strike i see no need at the moment to up the ante, the sheer volume of extra costs that are been incurred at the moment will have doms and soms taking notice because it is their ass on the line we need now for that message to be pushed up the line so that people with more clout will have to start looking over their shoulders

at our mail centre they still have a back log so it has certainly had an affect there but then we only had 11 cross the line over the 24 hours out of 700 and our delivery office has struggled all week and the manager is now trying to bully people into coming in so i would say that it has had an affect here :nana

" Managers" "bullying" how often do we see in `posts` these two words together?

I am afraid it is a fact that this is the only way most managers can manage

I'm all for giving RM 6 weeks notice that we intend to walk for a whole week. . . think about it . . . it's no more loss to us than single days for the next 6 weeks and it gives the idiots at the top 6 whole weeks to actually talk to us properly, the public also get plenty of notice and the press are bound to give us more coverage.

A whole week out must cause more problems, not only for the time we're out but also after our return.

Surely all avenues must be explored and we can't just keep plodding on with 1 dayers hoping that eventually someone will notice.

Some manage to work their day off and cover their strike day, but if it was a week they could not do this.

Some have very large mortgages and to lose a weeks wages would be devastating to them. Are you sure we would keep their support?
Doing it by areas would hit better than all on the same day.

Do you not think its worth waiting til we've had more than one strike day before we judge its success or lack of? I agree that the fight needs to go on, but we need to keep as many 'on the fence' picketers on our side, push them too far and they will go to work, losing us ground. The thing is we have a smart union, I say we trust their judgement, I'm sure that they won't let us down.

One day strikes are having an effect because every minute that is booked on pressure O/T
is a bit more out of the budget a DUM has to work with, then he has to explain this to his area
mananger, & so on, so DUM & DUMMER (Leighton & Crossdresser er I mean Crosier, no bollocks I was right the first time!) will have to sit back & count the cost, but I also feel a 3 Day hit on a few selective stratigic MLO's will hurt them
more & at the same time pay the rest of us for doing sweet F**K all!!!
Im sure the smaller offices would all help out with a collection, don't get me wrong Im not passing the buck just every now & again, after all cut the blood supply & the rest of the body does'nt work, then of course you could just call out DLY offices so the mail the MLO's churn out goes no-where, Double wammy effect we can gob off as much as we like the EC will do what they feel is best I just hope they are reading this because it does give a sence of the feeling that is going on from all over the country

The only picket line I would ever consider crossing would be a CMA one - but I don't think I am ever likely to see one of those. :lfo :cfo
