I believe there were about 240 men from Mount Pleasant who lost their lives in WW1.
There is a memorial to them http://catalogue.postalheritage.org.uk/ ... n%27%29%29" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Of course i did, the least i could do for people to sacrifice their life so i can live mine freely.

Im surprised that the DOM didnt come round with a clipboard asking people to declare whether they would be taking part in the silence so that 2 minutes can be deducted from their weekly wage. :cfo

we had a few years back when we still had the 2nd delivery we asked the dom whether the dom would observe the two minutes silence at 11.00 am ,bearing in mind this would be when the majority of staff would be sorting back in the office.he said no but did a hasty minute silence b4 the majority of staff left which would of been around 8.00 am .i think the warning signs regards royal mail management registered then and they havent disappointed.

Carried on delivering .. but I did feel for our war heroes at the time (was listening to the radio and they had a two minute silence) so I kinda felt I was in the moment.
I reckon we'll need a 2 minute silence next year .. lets remember all those posties who died on the streets in piles of households and mailsort. :funneh .
