Diary of a postal striker in the north: The battle of the noticeboard

Since the first day of our strike, the Royal Mail propaganda machine has been spewing out misinformation.

Managers have plastered our offices with company posters, leaflets and memos—and have even taken to sending letters to our homes telling us not to strike.

As we fought back, dishing out useful counter-information, it became clear that this was going to be war. They started removing material from our union noticeboards.

This is the sort of double standards we’ve come to expect.

If I were to be caught taking down a company anti-strike memo I would be taken “down the conduct route” and threatened with the sack.

Management have a particular dislike for articles from Socialist Worker that get pinned up. It seems my little diary is a thorn in their side. Can’t think why!

Don't trust Royal Mail bosses

As I write, our union leaders are working to resolve the dispute. Many think we might have won the first round.

But we should not trust the bosses. These people have a history of lying, bullying, and tearing up agreements when it suits them. Who’s to say that once the Christmas rush is over they won’t go back to their old ways?

Our office reminded me of the walls in China where the Party posted the News and crowds would gather to read the latest. ;liar
For some strange reason these great sheafs of shite were upside down every morning we came in, asst managers first job of a morning was to put them back the right way up :Boo hoo! .
For all the propaganda my office was 100% every strike day - all 16 of them. :nana :nana And will be when we are back out before Xmas! :cool
