Re: Stabbed In The Back
It would be good to get paid then you wouldnt mind taking the flak.
But to be honest im happy to do it for free and never do i think i should receive payment The only thing we are interested in is protecting our members and having the full support of them.

Is this driver just on collections?
Seems he was back in the office before you...................? perhaps he should have taken the bags,
When exactly does his duty time finish?
Maybe he needs to be a bit more flexible with his time!!!!!
RM version that is!!!
stick with it, a thankless task being a Rep, but it's the majority that needs you.

monkey boy just out of curiosity you say you are doing a duty revision have you got adequate release time.occasionally it also helps to say anyone with queries to see your sub(delegating) as your busy doing something. .i too was a rep and the majority of time was fending off personal attacks from staff who couldnt see the bigger picture of what was happening so i can empathise what you are going through and it is hard noyt to take it personal.
i would call a meeting .get an agenda .invite all staff members .and minute the meeting.this is your chance to tell everyone what is going on .also get a strong chairperson for the meet so individuals do not hog the proceedings.

A payment is made to all the reps from our branch at the AGM.I cant remember what it is calleddelboy wrote:Do you get paid for being a local rep?
If not i would jack it in, not worth the hassle, but saying that you seem to have all the qualities to be a rep and it could all be a big waste to us posties,
because we all need help from time to time..

Don't pack it in! I have said on a previous occasion you obviously care about your members, their pay and working conditions. The man is obviously out of touch with reality - you have a strong, united office and that effort is down to you - there would be no changes without the actions you instigated.MoNkEyBoY wrote:Well i did ask him if he wanted to stand for the reps job but he turned his back on me.
And i think the best thing would be to resign the position and just fight my own battles life would be a lot easier i know that.
But then R/M will have a free hand over our office and they will do as the please confusion confusion confusion
Stick with it - every cloud has a silver lining.

MoNkEyBoY the only reason you would ask the question am I fit enough to be our office rep is because YOU ARE> End Of.
Anyone can put themselves up for the Rep Job, but only the honest and trustworthy are any good at it.I have seen a lot of Reps that are in it for themselves
and if this had happened to one of them they would have just walked away because they wouldn't have cared what their colleges thought,Why because that
wouldn't have affected what they were personally gaining from doing the job.The good Reps on the other hand care about what their doing and what their work colleges think,
Trying to make things fairer for all and standing up for people that don't always deserve their support.
It is only these Reps that would question themselves because they believe in what there doing, not selfishly for themselves but for everyone they represent.
Good Luck Mate.

Don't quit, mate. Good reps are worth their weight in gold, and you seem to be a good 'un. Don't let a tit like that driver bollox it up for the majority of your members, who I'm sure, will support you over him. Good luck.MoNkEyBoY wrote:Well i did ask him if he wanted to stand for the reps job but he turned his back on me.

Re: Stabbed In The Back
Im the spare rep in my office and have been there before, the other week i stopped a member of staff from suspension and to show how glad the person was the person then went round the office trashing me,i had done nothing wrong just stopped what the manager had the right to do as the member of staff was looking at gross mis-conduct issue,i really considered just walking away as everyone knows it's a bit stress full at the moment but i remembered why i went back to reping if you believe in fairness for all and believe that some times some one has to shout louder to look out for others around you because may be they dont feel that they can stand up for themselves then carry on your better than the other mouth piece and others need you to be around.

Re: Stabbed In The Back
Well good news chaps is i have slept on it and until chatting to my area rep at a branch meeting earlier on today i was going to pack it in.
More good news aswell is that me and my oppo have had a driving duty re-instated only on a temp basis but once its highlighted how much its needed i very much doudt they will consider taking it back out.
Still the driver who had a go at me yesterday is not happy WHY i do not know and do not care.
So from the ashes a phoneix arises and after having 5 walk duties and driving duty removed 3 months ago we have clawed back 3 walks and the driving.
This is a massive victory for our office and due to this im keeping my kneck on the chopping board.
Thanks for all your support lads it went a long way in helping me make my decision along with all the other factors.
