A kind-hearted Wigan postie is braving the depths of winter to support charity.
Chris Hayes will withstand freezing temperatures when he delivers post to hundreds of Ashton homes in shorts this winter.
This is the fourth year Chris is taking part in the stunt, which has raised £10,000 for charity.
Chris, who lives in Whitley Crescent, Wigan, has been a postman for 17 years and delivers to around 570 homes.
Chris has already raised £2500 for this year's chosen charity, the Northern Cleft Foundation.
He said: "I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do it again this year, but dozens of people had been asking what my next challenge would be.
"After looking at photographs of people affected by the condition, I realised there are many people a lot worse off and decided to give it another go this year."
His Royal Mail colleague Alan Greenwood is also taking part in the challenge until January.
Chris said: "I'm really grateful with the donations we've received. It's unbelievable.
"I'd ask anyone who sees myself or Alan to donate so we can raise more money for this important cause."
In 2006 Chris raised £2,500 for Dr Naqvi's Heart Fund at Wigan Infirmary and Derian House Hospice in Chorley.

Blimey, I hope he'll be wearing his willy warmer.
Jokes aside, I think it's great to read about things like this, as it helps to remind some peeps that we're just as human as they are, or more so, judging by some of the crap that's been written about us.

We posties do things differently, but we still get shot at!

I wear my shorts all year round all the time. I'll have to start collecting for charity to. Good on them.
