As many of you will be aware the strategy has changed when it comes to pairing up Mail Centres to divert mail in times of disruption. It used to be the case that MCs close to each other were 'twinned' but this has changed and now the arrangement is that MCs have arrangements with others in differant regions. This prevents maximum disruption as when London went on strike the pre-arranged agreement was already in place to divert out.
This clearly does'nt work to any degree when a national stoppage occurs however from a 'London' perspective the movement of outward mail out of capital for days (and weeks) is worrying. East London MC has been diverting outward to Chelmsford and Romford, SW London to Gatwick and Croydon and the Mount outward has seen a steep decline.
The problem here is if the mail can be processed and cleared at times of adversity in other areas why bring it back ?

I can tell you now during the summer months Manchester had handled lots of mail from London and other offices who have been on strike giving lots of overtime out at point offering staff 9am starts and plenty of casuals.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
