Looks like my office will be on it's own then.We were 90% solid but are happy the union are talking. If royalmail domt play ball we go out again.Simple as that.25 years nearly I have been on every strike and will not turn my back on all I believe because a few people are throwing a hissy fit.

It's not even a point of whether you will go out again.
You will not be asked.
CWU HQ have painted themselves into a corner.
They will not risk calling the members out because they cannot be sure of support'
They will not risk calling the members out because they will not risk the public/press backlash.
They will not risk calling the members out because it would be an admission that the "agreement" was not strong enough.
CWU HQ will make these talks work because they have no choice.
How much ground they have to surrender to do this is is anyones guess.

Please answer me this if the NW management refuse to enter into meaningful negotiation but the management in London do, does that mean we are all back out?? What gives the EC the right to call off any strike action without even consulting the members??

Now if we cancelled the action for the 6th & 9th but annouced new dates for the 13th and 16th that would of been ok and in the mean time Dave ward an the EC should have invited all the div reps, branch secs and area reps to London to explain why they think the strike should be called off, after giving there reasons all of the above should debated and then those present should have been asked to vote on whether it is enough to postpone I/A?? That is what a real democratic organisation would have done!! :mad :mad
the nw would of voted to call it of anyway theirs no stomac for it :speak to the hand
Hey parky how do you know this?? Also you said in another post that the NW review has been agreed with the union well it was not agreed by the division so who agreed it?? Ahh yes it was Martin collins and HQ !! We were willing to strike at christmas 2008 as a division but gguess what we had the rug pulled from under us by HQ :mad :mad Now back to your point, as far as im aware the NW was almost completely solid during this round of I/A if that is not the case them please let me know??

Rip off indeed. That's why I went to a mates. LoL! Every who was doing the prediction scoring throughout the fight scored it 112-116 in favour of the Russian. Yet the official scores from two of the judges was 112-116 in favour of Haye. The third judge had it as a draw. Me thinks Valuev should of won. That's just my humble opinion though.

Kwik Post you have my respect for your support , but the words in the agreement does not say that there will not be a strike till after christmas. What its states there will be a review on Monday and then fortnightly and it will be tested against whether there will be agreements to end the local disputes which include impostion in all offices including yours. If the PEC think that Royal Mail are draging thier heels then further action can be called.

It does distrub me that some people do say we cant trust Royal Mail to honour this agreement they may well be right. But if we cant trust Royal Mail to honour any agreement then we can never get an agreement ever again.

Most Divisions are meeting their regional directors over the next two days. In London we have a meeting with our Regional Directors tomorrow afterwhich we will be meeting with our area reps and Branch`s tomorrow afternoon. On wednesday all DSMs and Area Reps will meet.

Royal Mail can either make this agreement work by agreeing to the full terms which does include no more impostion , and to resolve all their imposed revisons including adressing improving earnings , attendaces and agreeing the hours and jobs as well as MTSF issues. Or the CWU as agreed by the PEC last Thursday in an amendment which stated quite clearly that we will be declare further strike action if Royal Mail drag their heals in the next week.

Wetrogg

Regarding your points where absorbition has been imposed then it should be reviewed in the same way within the full terms of the IR framework.

Regarding the casual sites well they should close down in line with 3.2 when all work which has been diverted is returned to its parent office.

With regards to bullying well there are a number of issues contained within the interim agreement, the ending to the controversial taking off pay policy with a full review of all cases . Secondly that any discplinary cases will be dealt with informaly where ever possible. On top of that there is a project going to take place with outside extrenal support which will to root out bullying in the workplace.

Look I can assure all those in London if we dont think that Royal Mail are serious then we will not be hanging around waiting for the two week review we will be actioning further action.

However if Royal Mail honour the words which are in the deal and we make progress on the imposed revisons and the start agreeing the modensation deal which will provide benefits and improved security then surely its worth trying.

There is no way anyone intends to betray anyone but equally if we have a way forward which can mean we resolve all the issues whilst at the same time keeping up our sleeve the opportunity to take action within the next week then why would we reject

Anyone who continues to pedal the lie that there will not be any action should come to the National Briefing on Friday as that myth will be nailed as complete bullshit. Some posters jumped to conclusions without even reading the agreement and now have refused to accept their wrong.

No one in London or on the PEC intend to let down our members but neither do we intend to make them lose further money if we have the opportunity to resolve all the issues.

We will know by Thursday whether this agreement has legs or not. I suggust we all take stock then.

If as i suspect this is aimed at me let me clear a few things up.

1. It is not a lie it is an opinion, you have yours and unless you are in the business of censorship i am entitled to mine.
2. Sorry can't make the National Breifing have a previous engagement it's called work.
3. Didn't jump to conclusions, read the "Joint Statement/Form of Words" several times before i said a word.
4. This one you may have a point,i DO refuse to accept i'm wrong just because you tell me i am,but i am willing to be proved wrong.

Remember dingo this is a discussion forum not the CWU website.

MY THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS ON DINGO'S OPINIONS....

CAN I ASK WHERE IT SAYS IN THE AGREEMENT THERE WILL BE A STRIKE IF THINGS DON'T GO TO PLAN? I CANNOT SEE IT.

Or the CWU as agreed by the PEC last Thursday in an amendment which stated quite clearly that we will be declare further strike action if Royal Mail drag their heals in the next week.

WHERE IN THE INTERIM AGREEMENT DOES IT SAY THIS? ALL I SEE IS NO STRIKES AT LEAST UNTIL AFTER XMAS. THAT IS THE ONLY AGREEMENT ROYAL MAIL ARE INTERESTED IN.

With regards to bullying well there are a number of issues contained within the interim agreement.....

LIKE WHAT?

the ending to the controversial taking off pay policy with a full review of all cases .

THAT'S GOOD. RM BREAK THE LAW AND THE CWU LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT

Secondly that any discplinary cases will be dealt with informaly where ever possible. On top of that there is a project going to take place with outside extrenal support which will to root out bullying in the workplace.

THIS, I THINK, RELATES TO REPS. SO IF A REP IS VICTIMISED HE HAS TO SORT IT OUT "INFORMALLY" AND MUSN'T START TALKING LEGAL ACTION BECAUSE THE UNION WON'T BACK HIM/HER?

Anyone who continues to pedal the lie that there will not be any action should come to the National Briefing on Friday as that myth will be nailed as complete bullshit. Some posters jumped to conclusions without even reading the agreement and now have refused to accept their wrong.

I HAVE READ THE TWADDLE YOU CALL AN AGREEMENT. THERE WILL BE NO MORE ACTION. THERE WILL BE NO MORE STRIKES. THAT IS NOT A BAD THING IF THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE STRATEGY...DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH THOUGH

Well dingo i hope in wrong but having said just received a letter from the management asking for one of my members to attend a conduct interview for having the temerity to ask a member of staff to support the strike on the picket line, is that not against the spirit of this joint statement??

As far as i know Manchester MC still diverting to an outhouse in doncaster, Glasgow still diverting out, casuals all over the place and still refusing docket.

At my local do a worker was suspended over being unable to complete due to unagreed absorbing/lapsing So it seems now the idea is not to take them off pay but to suspend instead!!! :arrrghhh

I am a hundred percent behind what people in London, Scotland and eventually the rest of the country struck for, but HQs record aint good :nervous :nervous :nervous

Again dingo i ask you, what if London management play ball and NW management dont, will we all be back on strike???

What we have signed in 1.6 is a two week review where if we do not believe they are taking things seriously then we will continue strike action.

Why give them a two week breathing space? Why give them the option not to play ball rather than force them to play ball?

What Brendan Barber actually said was If the terms of this agreement is carried out there will be no more strikes before chirstmas.

The PEC have made it clear if the terms of the agreement are not adhered to then yes there will be more strikes. Now look at the two week review process what that states agreements achieved on resloving the local disputes and progress on the bigger issues.

Look if you would perfrer to believe Royal Mail who stated that in order to protect some big contracts and Barber who was the governments voice in the talks then fair enough.

But all the Divisional , Regional sectretaries were infromed today by Dave Ward and the other officers as well as the PEC to meet with their regional directors and go through a list of issues to claify quickly if Royal Mail are going to adhere to the agreement or not. This will be relayed back to the the PEC who will then make a decision on whether enough progress has been made or that the agreement is a sham.

All Divisonal reps have been told to meet the Branch"s as soon as possible and inform them of the terms of the agreement and then the national briefing will take place at the TUC.

In additon the national parties are meeting tomorrow.

For the first time since the dispute started in June some mail centres today got some work back with more to come torwards the end of the week. This is a start but we will only know if the other issues wll be resolved in the next few days.

The PEC carried 4 amendments as policy over the document. They are officail union policy and include the right for further action.

Now we will have to agree to disagree on the merits of the agreement but I can assure you that having led members for 18 strikes there is no way we are going to be shafted by Royal Mail. Either Royal Mail want to resolve the issues or we will continue to fight until we reach an agreement which they abide by.
