Hi
New to the site & to MDEC. Awaiting my assessment later this week but have no idea what it consists of. Not trying to cheat but don't want to walk in clueless. I assume it will be a typing exercise of sorts. Is it a mock-up of what the job itself will entail or something entirely different? I'm not a qualified typist but have typed using a PC as a big part of a previous job - will I be good enough? Will I find out on the assessment day whether I have passed? If I pass does that mean I will definitely get a job? (Can you tell I'm a little bit nervous?!!!

Re: The MDEC assessment & other 'stuff'
Hi there, the assessment is pretty easy. Basically you and all of the other applicants sit down at a computer, start a program up that is like a mock version of the real thing which is just entering postal information. The program will display photos of the actual details on the letter/package of the screen, you then enter the information that cant be read into the input fields. When i did mine we had to go through 100 pictures in 10 mins, have an accuracy rate above 80% and have a highish WPM. I only think one person failed whilst i was there. If you use computers regularly then i see no problem in passing really. Also before the actual computer assessment they will go through a powerpoint presentation various job details like the length of the contract, working hours, pay etc. Then after all that is finished you have about 20 forms to fill in! The longest part for me was the waiting around. This was at the Stoke MDEC btw, where have you applied for because the assessment could differ slightly. Oh and i asked afterwards if we get the job if we passed and they said yes. They told everybody there that they would contact us in the first 2 weeks of this month to arrange a training date, they still havent contacted me but i was assured that they would. Dont be nervous you will be fine!

Same here. Been waiting for ages now, said they would contact me before mid November and still aint heard anything back. Although someone did phone up a week back and went through a few of my details to confirm them. I'm in two minds whether or not to phone them up to find out whats been going on, ive sacrificed a few important things because they told me that id got the job. Ill be pretty angry if its all been for nothing.ixtigers wrote:Hi again
