6.If u have stairs u can try dumping ur bag half way up if its a heavy bag u might want to do that every stair to give ur back a "break".
This is the worst advice I have ever seen.Bear in mind if you lose the bag they will sack you. And if you leave it unattended there is always someone who will lift it out of sheer malice.A postie at our place used to do it and one of his customers sent a photo of his unattended bag in to the DOM. :wave
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

You shouldn't be carrying an overweight bag in the first place, if your duty has a lot of flat/steps then the weight of bags drops to 5 or 8KGs and those are H&S rules from RM (brothermagrew will both back me up on this and find the relevent details for you).

Reminds me of the story/myth that i once heard... postie leaves his bag somewhere to go and post a few letters... comes back, bag gone, so he rips his shirt punches himself in the face to get a shiner then goes back to the d.o. claiming to have been attacked and had his bag stolen... turns out that I.B. had spotted him leaving his bag unnattended and they had picked it up and took it back to his d.o.!

1.You will think the office is full of zoo animals when u first start.
I thought it was more like a farm, you know:

1. Sheep - Those that follow each other, bleating
2. Donkeys - Those that make a lot of noise and don't do much else
3. Pigs - Those that can eat breakfast, dinner and a snack in one 40 minute break
4. Chickens - Those that go around as if they have lost their heads

The last one reserved for guess who!

People say things like do the job properly, weigh your bags, don' over load your bags, etc, because if you do your job properly there are safe guards for you and your personal health, and RM have to back you up on them ( and your managers, with much fighting kicking up a fuss and putting pressure on you must follow them if you demand it ). At present you're getting the job done for them, with minimal fuss, but if you hurt yourself ( and back injuries are no fun and can be a permanant source of pain and discomfort ) they won't say "Well that El Caertero helped us out getting the job done, let's find him a light duty in the office to remain as an employee." they'll kick you out on a stage 3, and find another mug with the exact same attitude as you.....and if someone stands up to them, and says "No! This is wrong, I cannot complete this duty, in the time while folllowing guidelines!" They can respond with "No? Well the last bloke did & he never complained about it - so pull your finger out, or we will find someone that can do it!"

Managers always take the path of least resistance - at the moment you make it easy for them to let you take the risk......put your foot down, do the job right, and you might leave RM with the same health you started with - and the bloke that does your job after you might only be expected to do a normal day's work......not 5hrs delivery in 3.5hrs.

OK then, maybe you need a HCT, try asking your DOM for one which would do away with the constant need to go back to your only box. There are always options but your DOM will have to pay for these so he won't like it but he'll have to do something.

You forgot the Turkeys - The ones who when you ask a question say I'll have to ring my own manger, or answer with gobble, gobble, gobble (pure tripe). Then when Christmas comes round they get into a real panic as thoug it does not happen every year.

In my rush to log off & go to work this morning I forgot this comment......frankly I think you have answered your own words - if it's f**king you up doing it your way, do it the proper way......if that means you cannot complete, then let the manager know before you leave, and either offer to stay out and claim the OT, or tell him you cannot work past your time, and you will bring any unsecured mail back / or leave it at the office at his discretion for him to deal with. It won't be easy dealing with the initial pressure - but RM's SOPs are there to PROTECT YOU & YOUR H&S......stand your ground and the managers will buckle.....buckle yourself, and your back will swiftly follow.
