Christmas Tips
I am on a 30hr contract, doing leave cover and such, so I am on a different round every couple days....
Now, if I do a round and get a christmas tip, should I give it to the guy who's round I'm covering?
How does this work in your office?

Re: Christmas Tips
Im on my own round 5 days a week, so at the end i count up all the tips and share it out with my holiday reserve and day off cover. So last year i made around £200 and rakes of chocolates. I gave my day off cover £30 and some chocolates and a little less to my holiday reserve. Only fair. Not a lot share out there tips though.

Re: Christmas Tips
My day off cover guy wanted to give me all the tips he got on my walk. I told him to keep them but he refused point blank so we split them 50/50
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Re: Christmas Tips
Without wanting to go too off topic, I want to give my postman a Christmas box just to say thanks and acknowledge that not only does he do a good job, he's had a pretty rough year!
Problem is, I don't see him too often even though I know what he looks like.
Was just wondering what the best way of giving him a card would be - can I leave something for him at the delivery office or is it best done in person? Only problem there is that the post boxes are all on the wall in the lobby (I live in a block of flats) so unless I have a large packet to deliver or some other kind of signed-for service, I don't see him!

If you know his name you could drop the card off at the delivery office inquiry counter and ask them to pass it on. Even if you just tell them your address they will work it out. Its a nice thought, i am sure he will be pleased.

Re: Christmas Tips
I would take it to the office for him and write who it is for. If you don't know his name just write your addresse on it and say it's for the postie or he might try and deliver it to you.neilf wrote:Without wanting to go too off topic, I want to give my postman a Christmas box just to say thanks and acknowledge that not only does he do a good job, he's had a pretty rough year!

They certainly will be down from my Daily Mail reading customers. Expect they think i am a greedy low life after what was written about us, never mind.
I have never banked on any tips for all my years on the post, expect nothing and anything is a surprise.
Some in my office become totally obsessed about tips over the pressure period, like its some big competition which I find a bit distasteful really.

Re: Christmas Tips
I did'nt get much last year as I had'nt been doing the round very long. Hoping this year will be better but with all the strikes and the credit crunch I might be hoping in vain. But in saying that I don't expect anything from my customers as I am paid to do the job, but it's nice to be appreciated.

Re: Christmas Tips
Think the tips are gonna be a tricky one this year with folk who were against us going on strike not wanting to tip, then on the other hand the tipper's who will go out of their way to tip us known we do a damn good job & have lost out on pay recently , personally on my walk which i've done for 7 years, everyone off my punters i spoke too said they backed what we where striking for, which can only be a good thing.. Last year was a disappointing year for tips due to the recession just before Crimbo, but hey free booze & chocolates make up for it thou.. Friend of a colleague who's a Postie in a different branch who got tips would buy them a Lottery Lucky dip ticket n pop it in a Crimbo card which a thought was a nice touch, thou a wonder if them punters would be honest to come forward n say something if they got a big win or would they fcuk off to Australia n leave a tip lol
Who is KyzaSoze? But to hear Kobayashi tell it, anybody could have worked for Soze. You never knew, that was his power. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And like that, he's gone.
