There are slowcoaches in my office that regularly go over and don't claim. Those people are doing more damage than the ones that come in early.

Look at what the customer wants? They want there mail correctly and as early as possible. And that is what i provide. By coming in early and finishing early my customer scores and so do i. Whats wrong with that. If the mail is there to sort why delay it when you can prep it and get out on delivery.

Im 6 -2 and generally i come in at 20 past 5, out on delivery for 8 and get around in 4 hours top. So i finish no later than 12 every day. If i add on my meal relief and for coming in early i technically owe them at least 40 mins every day. How is that working for free?

But what about the person who covers your day off or the spare who covers your duty when your on annual leave, they come in at the correct time and may struggle to get out of the office, leading to management putting the pressure on and once there out they'll get the "your late postman" etc.
So with all this pressure on the cover mistakes will be made,so why not think of your colleagues first and how in the long run its just a selfish attitude.

Yes.
I would dispute that, coming in before your start time is not something RM request you to do and therefore you are acting on your own.

Customers prefered when mail was delivered first thing in the morning (07:00) so why are you not delivering then since it is the customer you rush for. If you are out for 8am as you claim, I doubt very much you would have cleared the missorts. Not a very good service if they are getting them 24 hours later because you rush out of the office early every day.

I get out at 8 because ips and frame prep takes no longer than 2 and a half hours.
Arnt all full time deliverys not take up to 5 hours for rurals and 4 hours on town? Thats what our duties are based on in our office.

All true but there are other issues. Our office used to charge around ,get in early, use cars and not take our breaks.Result our three days of lapsing was upped to all week and any other overtime would be covered as well(if possible).Any time made was theirs.Result is we now do the job by the book and no walks or anything get covered by us.It goes on docket.I am sorry to be blunt but any office carrying on in the old way have got it coming and are behaving like idiots.
Slider tool. Lol.

If I could work harder, serve the same amount of people and go home early of course I would. If I had to work an 8 hour day then i'd come in on time and do that, but not work as hard because there's no point.

RM know this, we know RM know this. Banking hours was tried in my office and it didn't work because nobody works for free, regardless of what anyone on here thinks. We went back to job and finish and it has been that way ever since.

Any other questions?

yes but why come in early when we know the managers are monitoring it, its this kind of behaviour that has us all absorbing walks, and if you think they will leave it at that then you are so far off the mark. They wont stop till everyone is working as close to their time as possible on a daily basis.

whats the point in starting an hour early? people come in at 5am in my office and i come in at 6 15 but i manage to get bagged up and out the door the same time as the early gang. Why not spend the extra hour in bed? It would make you feel sick if you added up these hours people come in early over the course of a year because you are probably giving the royal mail a free months work.
