If I could work harder, serve the same amount of people and go home early of course I would. If I had to work an 8 hour day then i'd come in on time and do that, but not work as hard because there's no point.

RM know this, we know RM know this. Banking hours was tried in my office and it didn't work because nobody works for free, regardless of what anyone on here thinks. We went back to job and finish and it has been that way ever since.

Any other questions?

Going slow on purpose is not acceptable either, doing the job correctly and efficiently within the RM framework is the best way.
Actually, you'll find its the ones that dont come in early and arnt efficient that do all the missorts at the ips frames and dont give monkeys about doing the job correctly and within the RM framework.

Then RM have a valid reason to make the rounds even bigger - it's thanks to these guys I now end up working longer (4 out of 5 days over my duty time). Eventually they will all work their hours (as Crozier says) so coming in early will be futile.
Why aren't you cutting off? Isn't it because people like you that are working over that RM are continuing to increase deliveries?
already am,get greif near every day
the favourite is X clears their duty every day while pointing at somebody who has their coded bundles up before im even in the office

Its the ones that take their time and dont pull their weight. Thats the reason why we are lapsing. Generally the posties that come in early are quick, efficient and set a good standard with no mistakes. Punt the ones that are not up to standard and milk thier duties. Then the office would run better and no lapsing would be required.
What chance has any union got with people like you :no no , it's like hitting your head against a brick wall or perhaps you already have.

Cant leave for delivery untill everyone has finished sorting their mail into the RM 2000 frames and have got all their missorts round to the missort frame. At least thats how it is suppose to work :whistle some people in my D.O belive standards are slacking in that respect, of course thats just a opinion for managers to agree or diassagree with.

The early starters at my D.O finish early, too early so that when I look at the duty sheets they are showing that even taking into account meal break and early start, plenty of time is still being made.

Therefore if the DOM says they can take on more work as they get back before thier finish time, the duty sheets can not help me in saying no.

If thats what the members wish to show day in day out then they must accept the consquences when RML expect 1800 new delivery points to be asorbed.

Can't believe the people on here proudly stating they start their work early and think it's ok to finish early..!! :arrrghhh The people in my D.O. who have the biggest gripes with any structural change, are the ones who still think 'job and finish' is current working practise..!! Some people.....after years of doing it,think their finish time is when they have been finishing since SDD 'job and finish'.!! Like most other offices round the country....that's gone..!!....now finishing on their time is alien to them...!! The quicker members get used to 'working to their time'....the better your working day will be.Starting early IS working for free....and finishing early on a regular basis means you are not fully utilising your contracted hours. Why do you need to start early..?...your duty should have appropriate prep time..?...if not then you leave or bring it back..!! Surely your office is structured around everybody leaving at the same time...so starting early shouldn't necessarily mean you get out the door early....??!! IF RM WERE TO PROPOSE THAT EVERYBODY'S START TIMES WERE TO CHANGE TO 30mins EARLY....AND YOU WERE TO WORK IT FOR NO PAY,YOU WOULD BE JUMPING ALL OVER YOUR UNIT REP...!!!

davef14 tilt your head back, now look at the point of this thread going over your head. unscrupulous dims are saying that the time that people like you do the job in by running about is now the acceptable time for the job. so in effect you are cutting time off the job. make no mistake the time will come when you will have more work added to your job with no extra time or pay. that dim that says nothing now will not think twice about shafting you when orders come from above. also that bullox about only slow people lapse. we have a walk without anyone to do it, so it doesn't matter how fast we are we all have to grab a handful. please don't insult my intelligence nobody can be so ignorant, you must be on a wind up

Anyone who starts early and works for free are scared to tell gaffas they are'nt extending so they get in early just to get out on time, face it! If yas were'nt such a bunch of f***ing pussys then the Royal Fail would not be benefiting from all them hours a year of free work!

I could cut off (that's another subject altogether) but instead I claim the time, therefore showing RM that making the walks bigger doesn't always = cost savings. On the other hand they could make your walk bigger and you'd just come in even earlier for free!

I know which RM would prefer and I know which I prefer!

I dont start early.

But maybe they do this so that they can get away on time with all mail delivered and not have to worry about cutting off.

Myabe there busy in the afternoon and cant afford to be held back and dont want extra mail in the morning.

I dont think it causes any problems if they do this anyway its up to them royal mail aint forcing them.

But id put it down to like i say them wanting to finish on time or earlier .

Sum people value there time off in the afternoon more than money. and getting up early is there normal routine?

If u have a problem with them doing it go and ask them instead of greeting like wee girls on here.

Also interesting to note, "Over five million people at work in the UK regularly do unpaid overtime, giving their employers £26.9 billion of free work every year." Quite fitting that we need the 'Work Your Proper Hours Day' (27 Feb 2009) - the day when the average person who does unpaid overtime finishes the unpaid days they do every year, and starts earning for themselves.

So for everyone who comes in 30 mins early = 120 hours, 3 weeks FREE work (reguardless of job and finish).

I understand why people do it, I used to do it myself but since our office had executive management action and more added onto our walks once again, it was pointless coming in early because even more jobs would be cut out as long as people do stuff for free.

Some people are scared to actually work their hours, if we're paid to work til 14:00 then we should be expected to work until that time.
