Re: THE AGREEMENT
I wish people would stop calling it the agreement - what it really is, is a Joint Statement of Intent - the intentions sound the same - the manner of execution may be totally different.

Re: THE AGREEMENT
A question dingo, if at stockport CDO management refuse to implement the terms of the statement but the management at wimbledon DO engage properly, will this lead to I/A being re-instated??? I fear that RM will deal in London but will not engage elsewhere this must not be allowed to happen but i fear it will

It won't be a 15% pay rise.
Much more likely it will be an absorbtion of D2D into existing workload.
A wage rise for those that don't deliver D2D (if they are included)
Not so good for the rest.

Remember what Dingo said about 124 different allowances, thats how we will get 15% over three years combined with savings created from job losses due to automation and robotic enhancements to our legs.
Simplyfying pay within the existing pay bill is part of phase 4 and therefore a national agreement voted in by the CWU membership.
It's your pre overtime gross pay that you need to look at in terms of 15% more pay.

Re: THE AGREEMENT
Last time we had a restructing of pay under the way forward we got a 90 miniutes reduction in the working week and a 27% improvement in basic pay. Look the wage bill is decreasing not only as a result of jobs going but so have nights and other allowances under pay and mod we were able to trap some for future use.
The cwu are looking for a 3 year deal with year 1 a 35 hour net working week with the hourly rate moving to £10 per hour.
No Door 2 Door is not part of that and will be a seperate delivery supplement only and will be over and above basic pay.
Now given the scale of change which is in the pipeline then the above is possible.

"The cwu are looking for a 3 year deal with year 1 a 35 hour net working week with the hourly rate moving to £10 per hour."
That means my basic is going up from £347 to £350.
But will i work 1 hour less per day?
Does this mean my delivery span,IP,prep will change?
What does "net working week" mean?
Questions,questions,questions.

Re: THE AGREEMENT
I don't understand your comment "I don't trust Royal Mail", we are the Royal Mail and proud of it.dingo wrote:Spile I can assure you that as someone who has led the London dispute and have stood in front of thousands of members in over an hundred offices there is no way we will accept any kind of sell out to our members/
However as much as I dont trust Royal Mail , there is a time you have to test if they are going to reverse change. Now I dont think anyone seriously believes that in offices like EC Deliveries where they have removed 75 jobs from the office that we will get 75 jobs back. But what we do expect is that we sit down and can get jobs back where the office is failing to meet quality of service and we restore earnings , plus we trap a share of savings and we have a proper resign in that office. If for instance management tell us when we meet that nothing will change then we will immediatley state that the agreement is flawed and will demand further action.
However I know that the imposition of revisions wont be resolved overnight as we have not been involved in any of the planning of these revisions and we will demand to see all the proper facts on what they introduce the revision on ie traffic , call rates , attendance calls , earning opportunites etc. But the key to this is whether they accept change I know in some of our offices like Wimbledon , Islington , SE1 , Streatham management have already accepted walks will have to come back for the revision to work. The question is do we agree on the number of jobs returning.
But like I said before what was the alternative continue striking till what was achieved ? At some stage whether it was this week or a month later or 3 months later we would still have to get back into local talks to resolve the imposed revisions.

The union should have consulted with the membership, that is thier only mistake in my view.
120,000 voices not all are anti the interim agreement so therefore they have not been sold out.
Everytime there is national ballot we never ever ge ta 1005 majority, it is ALWAYS some for some against, soo all this talk of a sell out is daft.
A sell out would be the PEC ignoring a NO vote.
Like it not we had a yes vote in 2007 and when phase 4 of that is done and dusted and voted on we will all have to accept the democratic will of the collective even if that view is different from our own personal view point.
When stuff is put to a vote, the only people who can sell out the mbrs are the mbrs themselves.

Re: THE AGREEMENT
Or not putting it to a vote at all? We voted to strike, we should have voted to end the strikes at the very least we should have been appraised of what the joint statement was - if we go out again before christmas I'll show my arse in Burtons window lunchtime the following Saturday - and that is a promise.Big Daz wrote:SeriousSam wrote:the argreement shouldnt have been agreed, we got sold out by our union.

SO in essence we lose 40 minutes of paid breaks each day which is 3hrs 20 minutes and to give this up to get a 35 hour week. I know we will still have the breaks but they won't be paid.
Sorry but giving up 3hrs 20 minutes to gain a 1 hrs 40 less work over the week, does not sound like a good idea to me. We would gain a 20 minute earlier finish every day, not exactly a cause for celebration. I just hope the CWU are not seeing this as a way to stop people working their breaks, like they did with the 50hours + Overtime, its short sighted, not in the interests of members (IMHO) but I see the benefits for the CWU.
Confused as well how this would help PTimers as they would lose 30 minutes each day as well for what I can see as no gain except a rise in base pay
Gross not Net and I may change my mind.
Please clarify as I am very worried, but willing to be talked round.
