I never thought that I would say this but I will support the cwu not because I think this is a good agreement (which I don't btw, I agree with most) but I think this is just another tactic to destroy the union from the inside they never had a chance to destroy it from the outside we are a bit too strong for that, but this tactic is a lot easier as they attack on two fronts inside and out. If everybody left the union then would be even more weaker than they are and rm modernisation(bullying and harassment) would be just a walk over. Believe me that I have considered this over the 2 days it was always Royal Mail intention to destroy the union but as a collective we had strength but use that strength against it self will acheive a easier destruction and in far less time.

Ask yourselves this we know RM could not win this battle before christmas (our biggest bargaining chip) so let this agreement fester over the christmas period, postpone the battle when the biggest chip is gone then demoralise the troops which don't trust them and watch them implode with no effort from them. Then :mfo :cfo work their magic with TNT before the next election when they are out then let who ever comes in to government privatetise the rest of RM by which time there would be no money EVR's OR PENSION just compulsory redundancies at a lower rate.


Believe me I HATE, HATE most of management that I have worked with in my 20 years (only a small handful are decent) but I would let work their bol****s off to finish rather than let them sit on their A**Es watching us destroy ourselves from the inside.

I am that spiteful.

The union after the year must look at different strategy other than its workers going out on strike. Maybe attacking RM regards to our work conditions and implamenting workers rights more. I think RM management exploit the staff and this needs to be addressed and stopped without strike action. Court action could be needed.

too true.i used to be in an office full of these.they do most of the above,then moan that the unions weak.that why we are at the foremost of trials.

the last 2 comments are spot on. in dundee the strike was 100% observed, but in small towns near dundee like forfar,kirriemuir,brechin etc etc no one came out. add to that people who use their cars,dont take breaks, work past their time and dont claim o/t etc etc. then you can see the enemy lies within.nearly every 29 hour contracted postman in dundee west doesnt take a break, they say they dont have time to!!!. and their right ,if they did take breaks the system would grind to a halt.and thats what they should do.
