completely disagree with many of these posts,fundamentally the issue is whether or not we even have a union in the workplace.
for me it wasn't if we could win the war,but if we could regroup after RM's interpretations locally,there are lessons to be learned from this dispute,and we have to accept that change will happen,but we now have a chance to shape that.
but make no mistake crozier and mandelson have been left with seriously bloody noses!

Having a union in the workplace is not fundamentally the issue - having a union in the workplace that actually represents the wishes of the membership is a fundamental issue - the lesson to be learned, by me at least, is save £2 a week.

"The postal union has hailed Thursday's agreement with Royal Mail - in which it claims "significant concessions" were made by the company.

The Communication Workers Union says this was down to the strength of the union's national strike ballot.

Royal Mail said the agreement on the key issues was the same as the one discussed last month with the union.

Both sides agreed to improve relations and establish "a radically different culture".

A new and improved reward and benefits package was also part of the deal.

Further talks will take place in December with the aim of finalising a deal by the end of 2010."

DVD all for nothink m8 my balls at present are hanging from the ceiling light. I think i will get them back before monday if i promise not to do any more diy.

Made copies of the terms on calling off our strikes and distrubuited them around the office today .

Chaps are not happy and now ive had 24 hrs or so to think about it im livid how foolish the CWU have been on cooling off.

We had them by the balls for once we had the upper hand.

A lot of us have lost money some more than others FOR WHAT

In my opinion although we still have the strike avenue to go down as the ballott is still valid for 3 months . We have all been let down badly victory was on the horizon and we or should i say they RAN away.

How have they sold us out ? have you read the deal ?

All it really says is that the union expects RM to "genuinely negotiate" a final settlement, and there will be an entirely independant judge of this proccess supplied by either acas or tuc. The option to resume industrial action is still there (even before xmas if needed) if the independant judge says RM are not genuinely trying to reach a solution.

It means that the union has forced them to negotiate, properly and quickly, without its members having to lose any more money or support, what more could you expect from an interim deal ?

There wouldn't have been a National Ballot without London, this union is heavily influenced by them. At the outset of the strike ballot I asked a question of a well known poster on here which was "If London get a satisfactory deal, will you settle" - well I've had my answer.

You see we went on strike knowing that all the reasons for striking put forward, change, imposed duties, loss of hours, park and loop were already in force here and this strike has done nothing to alleviate the problems or solve them - the promise of shorter working weeks, addressing the pension problem, well I've truly learned my lesson.

i'm a london postie and all i've got from this strike is poorer to the tune of 18 day's lose of pay. all through this strike we waited for the natonal ballot thinking that once the union had a yes vote they would do a deal for us. but all they were really interested in was themselves. making bloody sure their union sub's were safe and the lining of their pocket's could carry on for a few more year's. it's clearer then ever to all of us that they are only interested in looking after number 1 themself. it's been pointed out there is no deal just an agreement to more talk's. wait till xmas is over and they show the union the door. that's when the union will lose all support from the memebers and will go into total melt down.

My intention by this post is not to alienate the genuine postmen and women who lost a great deal of money, far more than we did. The post was aimed at those who negotiated a deal which was suited to them regardless of the effect on the likes of you and me. I apologise if you thought there was a jibe at you, it was because of the stand you made that a National Ballot was possible, it gave us hope that a real deal was possible but quite obviously the agenda we thought we were taking action for was not the same as the negotiators. Our mistake, never to be repeated.
