Re: Pouching off
With people being sacked for not wearing their cycle helmet this guy is rightly wanting to make sure he isn't doing something that could see him sacked.
Manager - 'Oh so you had the mail on your lap and this guy grabbed it as he left the bus? It should have been IN your pouch, you are sacked'

Re: Pouching off
Does nobody else find it scandalous that postmen are using public transport during their working hours, ie to take mail back to the DO? To get to and from their place of work fair enough, but during their shift? Opens a whole load of issues for me, H&S, security of mail and simply just sheer unprofessionalism.

our mail is often spot checked to see if it is properly endorsed.

Re: Pouching off
Everyone endorses mail when they get back to the office, it's always been that way in my office but then we've always returned to the office and (supposedly) have 10 minutes to do them in our duty structures.

Re: Pouching off
That's stupid. If you've got a block of flats banded together with the top letter endorsed, what's the problem? I have sent back mail for 5 or 6 blocks of flats all bundled together with just one letter endorsed. I do the same with boarded ups, if managers want to go out and check the addresses they're welcome to.concerneduk wrote:we have to endorse every address point and number how many items in each address bundle.OnAFlyer wrote:....Now you're going to tell me you endorse every letter for every block of flats, instead of just bundling them up together...postghost wrote:I have seen myself spending 5 minutes endorsing mail due to not gaining entry to flats.
Sounds like my office is run with a lot more common sense than most!

Same in our office, every single letter has to be endorsed whether its flats or not

I bet the customers love that, 5 letters all scribbled over. Do RM realise they are instructing you to needlessly deface other peoples property? You should tell your customers to complain about it.
