Surely when they are in the pouch they are not exposed to sunlight and if they are in a drop box they are in the dark,so why do they break even in these circumstances? They are just useless.

Did you not see the bit that said they are affected by exposure to the air??

You couldnt make this s**t up :chuckle :chuckle

I asked my manger when we were getting some more as they were great...his responce was "oh they were ordered by mistake". :hmmmm I'm still using the same ones. their looking a bit ropey now tho ...
THA LARGE ONES ARE ALL WE LIKE.BUT THEY ARE RARE(GOLDUST)
AND OTHERS SEEK OUT YOUR STASH AND NICK THEM..regular bands are pointless.

we are fairing better than some of you guys in supply though.we have five boxes of this s**t in our do,and there is only 10 rounds :nana :nana

They come directly from Sri Lanka, so not far off. And as RM say in the courier ' obviously cost is an issue' :chuckle

I've been adopting this approach for years, although with myself it was the added incentive of not being blamed for littering my walk with the small red bands as favoured by my floater... :cool Only trouble is hiding them from the vultures in my aisle that predate them for banding up multiple packets for the same address!

we all know these red ones are borderline to begin with. so virtually any exposure to sunlight will quickly make them unusable.
No prolonged use is achievable unless you keep them in the dark!
No problem with the red bands north of the border ;liar it's never f#ckin sunny  :cry

I have brought this up with my line manager on many occasions and get the usual response as stated in the other posts.

Apart from one time when he said and I quote "Bands are expensive, rubber doesnt grow on trees you know" and stormed off.

Never mind the sunlight, in the harsh low temperatures of winter they become utterly useless, they dont snap as such, they just stretch and become stringy.

Obviously he does not know about rubber tappers.

FECK RUBBER BANDS BRING BACK STRING!!!

Speaking of the Courier, the letters page always reminds of the hay day of Viz , where some yahoo ( obviously a plant from Royal Mail) from a small village, that cannot be found on any O.S map, normally called something like Feltmebum in Dorset ,always writes how the amount of D2D's they receive are not nearly enough and how he's always being told by his customers ( normally from the same village that he's been serving for over twenty years on his bike) that they wish he'd shove more of these imaginative and highly informative leaflets through their doors and that he'd willing take out up to ten sets every week and how he and his family make a game of it when they prep them up at home in the garden every Sunday whilst listening to Slayer on their portable cassette player.

I love the Courier, every single shred of it is true and no tone word is Propaganda. True story..it was in the Courier!

Maybe we should dress each one individually in sun hats eh?? possibly rub abit of factor 15 over em that should stop the f***ers from snapping. Royal mail=thick as f**k!!

The only decent thing we get from RM now is the footwear, Uniform is an absolute joke, cheapest of the cheap, You just need to wash the trousers twice and they start fadeing :mad :mad
cheap indigo dye on the cotton mix part of the trousers - hence the funny colours when the dye fades - I think ? Indigo used to be popular in the 70's on jeans etc , they'd have a slight purple tint to them ??

For example Marks & Sparks put their clothes through up to 100 washes , if they don't launder well ; they bin their supplier . Even on their lightweight Budget range " Blue Harbour " - which isn't much cop , at least black stays as a decent black not dirty grey or charcoal .

I don't bother with RM trousers - it's a WAFT, even if I do have to buy my own. Shirts I like, but the red polos are a WAFT, and I do use issue footwear, cos it's PPE ( but for the first 18 months I used my own, cos I don't like falling on my arse ) - the worst thing RM ever done was getting rid of the Harringtons ( phased out just as I joined.....good job I picked up a load of cast offs from around the DO )......but that would be a whole different thread
