I recall that in the past we had a list of volunteers from the floor who would agree to strike for that purpose but don't put it all on your Reps, they deserve support, not opposition.

I agree. And wht cancell ur subs , When changes do get done u wont have a leg to stand on cause there will be no union cause u aint payin your subs. So kicking yourself up the a**e isnt going to help. Give the union your support and we will come out of this better than b4 it just takes time. Wait and see what the agreement is.

opgpat. I have gone from being a very strong CWU member to a very bewelled member. Our CWU have backed down for nothing more than a promise of more talks over the next few months. If i was at the table i would be saying no, we reach agreement now or our members remain on IA.

There is no deal just an agrement by the VWU to end the strikes while talk's continue. We in London have lost close to £1500 supporting this strike only to be sold short once again. If anyone from this f**king union has turned up at our office this morning they would of been lynched. The feeling now is if they want us to support them again they can go f**k themselves.

All it really says is that the union expects RM to "genuinely negotiate" a final settlement, and there will be an entirely independant judge of this proccess supplied by either acas or tuc. The option to resume industrial action is still there (even before xmas if needed) if the independant judge says RM are not genuinely trying to reach a solution.

It means that the union has forced them to negotiate, properly and quickly, without its members having to lose any more money or support, what more could you expect from an interim deal ?

The majority of Members will not resume strike action.
The strike would fold within days.
You get one chance at this and that chance has gone.
The strike ballot is dead.

I am going to cancel my CWU payments.Just accept the 2007/09 agreement because its not worth losing any more money.In the future vote No on strikes.Because when i always vote Yes for a strike it gets me no where apart from earning less money.

The management has got the Christmas hiatus it wanted. In the New Year it will provoke a fresh round of IA from the union, which it no doubt hopes will take us right into the general election campaign.

This would give Cameron all the rhetoric he needs to smash the CWU without a peep of public protest ("by delaying postal votes these selfish posties are attacking democracy itself!" etc.) and make RM a much more attractive proposition for subsequent investment by an outside company. Would you want a share of a company so prone to strikes?

TNT presumably won't recognise the CWU. But to make matters simpler across the company, I suspect that after the election neither will RM: it won't risk taking that step now (Labour government and all, very bad form, look awful in the socialist history books), but once Cameron's in it'll be able to do pretty much what it likes, with full governmental support.

I wouldn't be too hard on the Union team. I think they were screwed from the outset.
