Yeah, I totally defend your right to work during IA - although I hope you consider your position as a CWU member. Personally, to me - it's just wrong. Like Morris Dancing or playing with your sister. Some things you are brought up to believe are basically wrong!! I could NEVER cross a picket line! End of story!! I have a family, I have commitments and I need the princely sum paid out on a weekly basis by RM. But my family love me because I know the difference between right and wrong. And, although you are allowed that choice - can't you see that it is morally wrong. My job is safe but there are more than 20 of my colleagues will have to go (ok some via VR - but not that many). We are not striking over pay (which gives us some moral high ground in some aspects of the media). I was on strike on behalf of my colleagues who may lose their jobs and (if they lost them) the ridiculous walks they would implement meaning dreadful loss off service to our customers. I have "gone the extra mile" for some of my customers - in my own time. I'm not a hero, just a normal postman like most on this forum.
But I could never, ever cross a picket line.
You should probably read my posts. I have never crossed a picket line and i am not in the cwu. Difference between right and wrong? Silly statement, some people class striking in a recession wrong, some claim not appreciating the job you have when unemployment is at its highest for years is wrong. One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter. I get paid to do a job, RM pay my wages, they put the food on my table, not my colleagues. I work during IA because of the shear stupidity of the majority of my small office and because of the idiocy from within the cwu.
I completly respect peoples right to strike, even if it does f**k me up for 2 days after, striking is not an easy thing, so i appreciate where alot of your anger comes from. But you have to remember everyones circumstances are different, and with my circumstances, over the last few weeks, no-one has given me one good reason why i should strike.
