Outhouse Watch !

Post by Sparrowhawk »

:cool As the title reads , why don't we have an "Outhouse Watch" ? :whistle .
The idea being that whenever any of us hears of an outhouse location , post it on here so we ALL know about it . That's more than likely where the Agency workers , Xmas casuals , managers and "strike breakers" will be working from during our IA.
Edinburgh.
During our 2007 IA , an outhouse at Livingston was used. For Xmas 2008, Livingston was used again although I believe a different bigger unit was used ( supposedly just for packets although we were receiving yorks of "splitters" - pre-sorted letters and flats, returned to EHMC from the above outhouse !).
This year , an outhouse at Bathgate has been mentioned ( or is this a decoy to take our attention away from Livi ? ). :whistle

Dartford Outhouse.

Post by baldrick »

Well I think it's well known now, but a lot of London work is being sent
to a warehouse in Dartford being used as an Outhouse for the last 6 weeks.
It's being staffed by Agency staff supplied by Manpower, who charge around
£15 per hour for each person. There are supposed to be 400 people working
there on three shifts, and they have been told they will be employed there
for4 months.
I can't see them being able to process much of the work normally done by more
than 12,000 experienced London OPGs, so the backlog is probably going to
continue to grow, and a lot faster once the National IA starts.

RM management would like us all on mininum wage if they could get away with it. Besides, a few more years of pay freeze and we'll be there by default anyway.

In Glasgow i know there is the ex-Amazon outhouse in Kinning Park that RM use, and more than likely still own/lease, and also the old Parcel Force building in Dixons Blazes in Gorbalsthat was used last Christmas .. and more than likely still active in some way or another.

Don't know about Outhouses, could name plenty of Shithouses due to backlog. Can hardly move in some DO's due to backlog already. One unit at least 5 trays undelivered mail at each frame.
