They are already in and working and have been for weeksheadscrewedon wrote: RM weren't proposing to bring these people on the day of the strike(s), they were planning to bring them in after, which is a bit of a grey area. Do we really want their right to do this confirmed in law ???
Bear in mind, some of us have been on strike action for months - not just the past few weeks. Royal Mail has employed Owner Drivers, foreign drivers, the likes of Stobarts and other haulage companies to bypass and move work proper to Royal Mail drivers who were on official strike. This is also happening with agency staff covering set duties of striking postmen and women. This is illegal whichever way you shake or look at it. It needs sorting once and for all.
If this not challenged then we are left in the status quo of RM bringing in agencies as and when they feel like it and negating much of the impact of strike action. Should the decision go against the challenge ie Royal Mail are allowed to employ anyone at anytime for any work then we haven't lost anything - have we ?
