Update on Postal Dispute
4th November 2009

Talks between the CWU and Royal Mail took place at TUC headquarters in central London yesterday (Tuesday) and continue today, chaired by TUC general secretary Brendan Barber.

Both the CWU and Royal Mail have agreed not to speak publicly about the detail of the discussions so far. Negotiations will resume at the same venue tomorrow morning and further updates will follow.

The two national strikes on Friday 6th November and Monday 9th November - involving all 121,000 members in Royal Mail Letters - are set to go ahead as planned.

Better to let them get on with it and us prepare for action Friday.

Its so important we keep up the pressure now, we must keep the line and ensure no one wavers.

We are so close now , we just need to be solid

so close to what, and who is your source?

TUC has put a blanket ban on any details of the talks being released.

My opinion....for what its worth :Very Happy is both sides will proberly want to wait and see the outcome of this Fridays court case concerning the employing of casual workers,so the Friday and Monday strikes will go ahead.

It appears both sides have kept their word and said nowt to the media or let anything leak,is this a good sign talks are progressing?

Looks like a long weekend for most of us,whats the weather forecast :cool

So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat

I've heard that Adam Crozier will not break his silence AFTER the talks either, he much prefers to keep out of the public eye altogether. :cfo :left:

A quick question on this (not totally relevant)...

Why did our union insist on Crozier & Higson being present for the talks....but any proposal has to be taken away and studied by the PEC? Surely they either want all of the players at the table, or none of them?

I should imagine trying to get blood out of a stone would be easier than getting Crozier or Higson to sit in on ANY meetings!! :silenced

I cant see any leaked details , just a load of long winded waffle about why we should go back to work and break the strike.

Some of it is old news such as were not doing any more change this year so call off the strikes.

It doesnt tell us what the TUC have proposed or what RM and CWU think of the proposals.
