Maybe I'm bloody clueless, but would this suggest that RM are starting to get a bit panicky? Maybe they're thinking that they're losing the PR war, and need to do something ( anything! ) I can't see the bloody point - it'd be cheaper and easier to talk to the Union as an equal ( but they conceeded that right some months ago )

Re: daily star today - full page spread appealing to strike breakers -PICS
I'm certain they don't mind the story getting spiked from the later editions, in fact I'm sure they expect it.....the important thing is that it is in the 1st editions - they are the ones that get sold out first, and the ones most likely to be picked up by commuters ( whether it is the banker on the 6:45 to Charing Cross, the cleaner coming home from the A&E nightshift or the mum stopping off after the school run )norbert wrote:stinks of the PR agency that RM have hired - seen RM stuff from a PR agency before . .
By " coincidence " The Sun ran a B/S story from a " press agency " apparently , on Dave Ward which had to be pulled . Yeah ! - trust RM![]()
.
I've seen Hellmail run a story " quoting " " guilty " Bristol postal workers - by " strange coincidence" it was later dramatically toned down .

They're all out to get us ( Associated, Murdoch, Desmond et al ), and if Crozier gives them 30 pieces of silver all the better......but even with this crap, we still have the public on our side ( I've not met one customer tell me to stop striking and be glad of a job - one that said the union was wrong going into strikes, but even he said that RM was grossly mis-managed, and the Govt was conspiring with the situation, and he sympathised that we ( the Blue Army ) were getting stuck in the political cross fire )........we WILL prevail

i think the ad is also a PR stunt.....public will see it and think oh look, RM have done everything asked so far and still the staff are striking...what greedy so and so's. That sort of thing.....clever. I said months ago the CWU should have done the same thing with examples of working practices.

Yes, very greedy. I still haven't payed of half what I lost from the last strikes with the 5.7% (not in real terms) rise we got which I didn't actually want in the first place.

Royal Mail are so hard up that they are willing to spend MILLIONS on propaganda during the strikes, rather than spend time finding a solution.

So making a rough guess that a one page b&w advert could cost £20,000 x 10 national newspapers = £200,000 EACH TIME RM PUT AN ADVERT OUT!Advertising in national newspapers is extremely expensive. As an example, it costs over £30,000 for a full page colour ad in The Daily Mail
