Nothing at all. They've exercised their right as an employee to choose to work, just as we have exercised our legal right to withdraw our labour in protest at the way Royal Mail is run.HESS wrote:Ok then....give us your view, what should happen to 'blacklegs'...?
Just because someone has a different opinion does not mean they should be subjected to bullying.
I await with baited breath the "you're a manager" comments.

True friends have differences of opinion and debate all sorts of issues. One of my best mates has totally different views on politics and votes Tory, but I joke with her about it, not cast her out and break our friendship.krussell wrote: is it really worth it for a few quid to wreck friendships you may have forged for years.
Once you start with that sort of thinking, you end up losing all sense of perspective. I work for Royal Mail, but it's only a job when all's said and done. If it gets too bad, I can always leave. It's not THAT important to me. Look at how badly out of perspective two of the miners got. They dropped a breeze-block off a bridge onto a taxi below, killing the driverhairyjack wrote:The miners just beat the crap out of them, sounds good to me.
If you have to resort to violence to 'persuade' someone over to your point of view, you've already lost your argument.

Agree. Otherwise why bother even having ballots.

Isn't that one of the reasons we are striking?
This is what i tell the hardline unionists in my office. They seem to have a selective memory. Its ok for them to f**k up my mail in the frame for the next 2 weeks, or to shout scab as others cross the picket line, or to let the air out of someone's tyres, but its not ok for managers to disipline someone for leaving 2 bundles of first class mail in the frame.
The thread should be renamed to, what should happen to the thousands of posties bullying other employees for doing there job.

So.....IF these 'blacklegs' gained momentum and started returning to work en-mass,the cwu loses all the leveridge it had,we then end up going back to work in worse circumstances that many members are in already.....and finally the company dissolves into the horizon. You 3 will all be quite happy with all these people who exorcised their right to work through IA,weakened our unions position and helped in the downfall of RM as a public service.......??

They made their choice just as we did. If the majority go back then surely we have to follow. After all , as I keep reading on here, we should respect the majority rule ? Or does that only work one way.HESS wrote:So.....IF these 'blacklegs' gained momentum and started returning to work en-mass,the cwu loses all the leveridge it had,we then end up going back to work in worse circumstances that many members are in already.....and finally the company dissolves into the horizon. Obviously if we weren't happy with the new working conditions we could always leave and find other jobs. After all, there an absolute shed load out there just crying out for applicants.

So your condoning the use of bullying and harrasment to stop strike breakers from working?HESS wrote:So.....IF these 'blacklegs' gained momentum and started returning to work en-mass,the cwu loses all the leveridge it had,we then end up going back to work in worse circumstances that many members are in already.....and finally the company dissolves into the horizon. Re: WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN TO BLACKLEGS ??
Hess, the ones who really weaken the unions position are the ones that don't vote at all.
If the tens of thousands of posties who can't be @rsed to put a cross on a ballot paper, seal an envelope and put it end a postbox (it's not like they don't walk past loads of those every day) would just do so, the CWU could go into negotiations with a HUGE mandate that only a near-100% Yes vote could deliver.
Worse still are those that, even after having been prepared to lose money in the strikes, let a bad deal get voted in by again not using a little bit of ink

From 2001, but still, excellent idea!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/1409917.stm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) is continuing to crack down on those seeking membership who stand accused of strike-breaking.
Last year's strike against the advertising industry saw the union boycott any commercial work by its members.
SAG warned non-members that if they took part in adverts their future eligibility would be jeopardised.
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Re: WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN TO BLACKLEGS ??
I tend to agree - the Union are claiming institutional B&H and every time we shout scab, or do something childish such as letting air out of tyres we weaken our position. My feeling is that the strike breakers have made their choice and I have made mine. When or rather, if, they try to cross my picket line I will attempt to change their mind, thats it end of. If people don't want to talk to them, fine, don't unless its connected with work, but how do you change their minds and get them onside.Lager Chimp wrote:Bullying and Harassment is only carried out by managers eh?

I don't like people breaking a strike but why should I descend to RMs level and start B&H just to make a point, or get someone to do something they don't agree with.
Yes someone complained and you may notice that the Avatar is still there ....... question answeredLager Chimp wrote:Oh and if a mod does happen to read this - someone complained the other night about a mock-up of Dave Ward as Shrek in an avatar. If that complaint is justifiable, then what about some of your smileys?
