almost, never trust a royal mail manager. when i first started work our foreman was referred to as a bar steward, old school manager who knew the job inside out. i never had a problem with him. you did your job, there was no problem if you f**ked up or took the p**s you were in the office for a roasting, that was that, end of, no hard feelings. rm's managers don't know or don't want to know the job and are willing to lie, harrass and bully people into doing more work than they are supposed to do because of the cuts they have implimented. lazy, incompetent and out of their depth who's only concern is their bonus. greed rules unfortunately

i cant get my head around the fact they try to cut us out of having overtime etc just because they wont get there bonus.

My manager prefers that i tell him what time ive done then he trys to haggle with me and then eventualy he just decides im worth half an hour less than ive asked for??

:so there
one day part timers will have the same right as full timers

Cut off everyday, and when your dim asks why, tell him he haggles and argues every bit if extended you do, then under cuts what you've done and you're sick of working 30mins a day for free......remember ( as someone's sig says ) If they ain't payin', the mail's staying

Reading through you threads makes me mad I am a dom and i treat my staff with respect and in a way that i would like to be treated.
I must admit RM has serious issues with bad managment, and how they are going to sort it out is another issue
But at the end of the day its all to do with people, if someone treats you with respect and is fair you are going to react the same way
and thats whats missing on behalf of some managment respect, fairness, honesty.

I believe Leighton wanted appraisals but the CMA was willing to ballot on it , the question begged is appraised on what or on what basis :hmmmm ; hence the lack of trust .

I have seen a situation elsewhere when " better " Senior Management took over and a lot of empire builders and their henchmen went , I'm afraid I can't see that happening with RM , too much Rambo stuff going on with the Mexican stand -offs :hmmmm .

I'll take my hat off to you - you're the first manager I've come across here that is open about it, and it seems to me that whatever the T&Cs in your job, you have a bit of fear about the future just as we do......all you need to do now is join the CWU and stand on the picket!

Hi Smokerjim I really don't understand why the CMA are not getting involved and joining in with the CWU it would then be one stand, It may happen when managment heads start to roll but it would be too late then.

I think everyone if they are honest, have some fear regarding their future in RM so we can only stand up for what is right
And I am sorry Royal Mail you have not been Honest,Decent, respectful, It's about time somethings done about it, and if strikes are the only way then so be it.

still maintain that TRUST is a big part off working together once that is gone its gone for good !! you dont have to get on with each other but you need to believe you are not going to be lied to just to keep you quiet ,
RM have forgotten one thing , if you are treated fairly and with respect you tend to go the extra mile when asked a sort of Quid-pro-Quo. Conversely when treated with contempt, condescension ("our people" :Sick ), arrogance and daily B&H whether perceived or real, most people will either dig their heels in, and if not cause problems, they certainly wont try their hardest to sort it out.

Your absolutely right TRUST is the key, and takes time to build that in a relationship, I don’t go chasseing round my staff tying to catch them out I don't have to because if they have an issue they will ring me to let me know so we can work things out that is born out of respect, trust an honesty
