Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Little boy, many many years ago their were almost no rules governing working conditions and as a result while employers got very wealthy the employee would usually die at around 40ish years old from various ailments or just too knackered to carry on.
Just about every luxery you currently enjoy (lack of flogging, healthy working conditions, lack of death at the workplace) is because someone somewhere decided to take a stand against such practices, these were called unions and the method they used was called striking. It is now a legal right!
Royal mail wishes to turn the clock back on some of hte things these brave people achieved and so some of us feel we need to strike(see above) again

Excellent post. What about next year? If we lose and people go to work then they'll think they can get away with anythingronpetetrevchris wrote:Little boy, many many years ago their were almost no rules governing working conditions and as a result while employers got very wealthy the employee would usually die at around 40ish years old from various ailments or just too knackered to carry on.

another person who just thinks of his own job and not everybody elses, 1 day mate it will be your duty they want to cut up, and enjoy the 1pm finishes cos keep on making time and they will only extend your duty. You need to look to the future mate and stop living for today, i hope you want to work later on saturdays too cos thats whats going to happen, i hope you want to deliver households for free cos thats whats going to happen. For a few days pay to sacrifice will save you so much more money in the long run.

No i am not in union and am glad not to be,
Positive thinking!!!

So far Royal Mail have stated that they have finished implementing the changes for 2009, But it is a big BUT. From 1/1/2010 they will continue with further changes and for some reason they are keeping that very secret, what have they got to hide?
You say you are working harder now to get the job done, but when they reduce you're Office Budget by another 10% and you lose more duties you may well find yourself in the same situation the rest of us are in now!

Re: Why Shouldn't I work on strike days?
i will just use my family friendly to keep my nice half 10 finish every Saturday....
As for the line if you start at 5 and finish at 1 its 8 hours, yes your maths is correct though since its modernisation our office starts at 6:15. Our office has had duties removed and many people do not complete on a daily basis but that is because they can not be bothered to and not because the duties are to long.
Some days i work harder but remember volumes are down lol

Re: Why Shouldn't I work on strike days?
Best comment i've heard so far was from a new starter,'I have'nt seen any bullying!'.
So in the twenty odd years i've been a postie i have never seen a manager bully the staff
At this moment there is a member of staff being hounded out of his job with underhand bullying tactics.
They have just got rid of someone on a trumped up medical charge, and are getting rid of the dead wood before the next round of EVR's.
Yes no bulling here!

Highly unlikely, when the mail is coming into the Office later and later you'll probably be starting at 10:30, as they've said in the past Operational needs outweigh the Family Friendly protocol, sorry to say but you're going to learn the hard way.bakersdozen wrote:i will just use my family friendly to keep my nice half 10 finish every Saturday....
