country wide overtime ban?

Thats why when London took action we had to serve strike notice on pre start overtime rather then just say we will have an overtime ban

So you served ,"notice on pre start overtime" then serve notice on pre start overtime and post finish overtime for a period of 4 months. It can be done. We were balloted for industrial action and then we have to give one weeks notice of the nature of the industrial action which we intend to take in order to comply with the law.

Trouble is that, as with most things, it's not that simple.

Some people can only just survive on their weekly wage and for those people the only way they can afford to support the strike action is to do some overtime to make up the pay they've lost. Now which way would you prefer these people to go ? do they do the overtime or not support the strikes ?

Don't get me wrong, I think most people can survive, if they have to, with the reduced wages we're getting at the moment and these people should do just that, I'm just talking about the few who absolutely need the cash to get by each week.

For the record I will never cross that picket line and I don't do any overtime, so I'm not just making excuses for myself, I'm just trying to understand those in more difficult positions than myself.
