there is no reason to be taking 2 bags out by yourself. If your driver cant get your drop bags out to you in time its a Royal Mail problem NOT yours. The fact that you have to extend after taking 2 out by yourself is nothing short of scandalous ! Why are you killing yourself, get your line manager to organise things better.

There is nothing management can do about us breaking off. Our D.O. would be f***ed if we all broke off, there would be loads of mail undelivered and it would prove a point to management that we need hours back in the office. Most of our staff are part time with many employees on 25 hour contracts, which is only meant to be delivery. These 25 hour employees ALL PREP AND DELIVER. So they are working 35 to 40 hours a week. If they just did their 25 hours and everyone else also worked to rule our office simply would not get all the post delivered. They would HAVE to give more hours back to us which would mean making the 25 hour contracts up to 33 or 35 hour contracts. Working to rule is sustainable for months even indefinitely. We would lose no money, we would not be so tired and would have a better quality of life and have time to spend with our families. If work to rule was implemented nationally we could tell the press this is industrial action and the press can report on the inevitable backlogs of mail. Work to rule would have the same desired results as a strike but we would be able to sustain the industrial action for longer, with no detrimental affects to posties. This industrial action would result in massive backlogs of mail and would provoke media interest. It's a no lose situation. As time went on pressure would mount on lower management causing them stress, prolonged periods of stress often leads to depression and other mental illness. DONT STRIKE. WORK TO RULE.

Work to rule however is a form of strike action, it would be better if everyone "did their job properly" without even announcing it as industrial action. The likes of Crozier would then actually see how much we do for this company and stop trying to take the pee out of the workforce.

our office rep is usually quite militant but he hasnt proposed any kind of overtime ban this time so people who "need" it are doing it.
Its not ideal that they do it but if it means that because of this they can take strike days then its probably worth it.

After booking that half hour for yesterday, managers says seeing as its light today she'll be scratching off yesterdays OT,I said "no chance, you should think yourself lucky you didnt get a phone call telling you i'm cutting off". Left it at that and went out on delivery, was in the house at 12.30,like i said fairly light day, and my mobile rings, I miss it and it goes to answer phone, its her saying she's on patrol where am I??

Cheeky cow!!!!

You're right about taking 2 bags out, I'm seriously thinking of stopping that practice and either handing back or booking for every single minute Im stood waiting. The problem with the latter is exactly what happened today, although I thought they werent allowed to scratch OT just because its a light day*.

* If you're wondering why its as light day with all the backlog its due to hardly any sorters on the primary and a shorter working day, well, they wanted it that way and so they shall have it.

There's walkman and drivers been going over by 20-30minutes these past two days in our office and the DOM is refusing to pay overtime, surely this is illegal :no no

No I dont use my car, I do get a lift most days though, failing that its the bus.

And all bar one of my bags goes to the same box, so he'd be going there regardless.

No, another postie, our vans dont carry passengers, even if he stopped dragging his feet long enough to be ready to leave when everyone else is.

During industrial action there should be an automatic O/T banner ( Work To Rule )

This then will enable our I/A to have the major impact we desire instead we now have a culture of " Ive got to rake the money back soe how before the next strike"

I really do hope that the CWU realise this and send out an LTB informing reps of this decision then lets see were R/M end up.

This dispute is about causing as much distruption as possible but people are intent of thinking about themselves instead of the bigger picture.

I understand some may object to what ive wrote on the grounds of i have a family kids mortgage xmas on the way we are all in the same boat so that argument doesnt wash with me anymore as ive heard it that many times. This is just an excuse to hide behind.

And using your car to carry bags in beggars belief i can not work out your logic in doing this crazy crazy

why would i want to stand around doing nothing for anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes waiting for a driver??

Its already been brought to the gaffers attention and he jumped to the defense of the driver, as per usual.

Reason being that this wait would have an impact on your delivery time.
