TIME TO CUT LABOUR FUNDING ?

Post by deadbox »

In light of the fact that Gordon Brown has said NOTHING about the strike......and the LABOUR party is about £17M in the red...

Is NOW.....not in a years time ( AS AGREED BY CONFRENCE ), the right time to start calling in favours for all the money that we have given them ( about £750,000 a year ! )
I was sure I'd seen a bead of sweat on my line manager the other day - Until I realised that he had just brushed past me too close

Yes , the sooner the better, mate.

Each and every union is just throwing away good money after bad.

Sadly , this New Labour Party couldn't give a fig about the struggle working people are facing today , partly of New Labour's making
as well.

Right on! Stop th Political Levy from ALL Unions and stop sponsoring MPs-we've heard hardly a whimper from any of them about our struggle,or the mess Leighton & Crozier have made of Royal Mail.Let's have some MPs asking Gordon Brown a few questions in the House, with a Labour Government we shouldn't have to be going through all this s**t,they obviously aren't on the side of the workers anymore, they forget that it was the working class who created them and we can just as easily destroy them with just a few million votes swinging to another party (no not the slimeball Tories or lets sit on the fence Liberals).

Agree with all the above points.

How do I cancel the political levy on my union subscription?
Also if I don't see some action from the union putting the squeeze on the MPs we support and Gordon Brown continues to ignore the dispute I will seriouly consider withdrawing from the union. Something that would go totally against the grain.

I can understand wanted to withdraw from paying the political levy, but not resigning from the CWU. After all the CWU is you and your colleagues, no more no less.

Your branch secretary should have opt out forms. On the old membership forms there was an 'opt-out' clause, but not these days. Perhaps Billy and Alan before him were a bit worried about the numbers opting out and decided to do something about it.
DO NOT withdraw from the union. For all it's faults, it offers some measure of protection against screws and makes legal representation in the event of dog bites.
As for the Labour Party, it is nothing more than a cul-de-sac down which the hopes and aspirations of generations of working people have been safely filtered out and removed of any progressive content.
There are comrades on here who are members of the Socialist Workers Party and the Socialist Party. They will know the history of both the International Socialists and Militant and how they were expelled from Labour for holding socialist views. In more recent times, Ken Coates MEP and Michael Barratt Brown et.al have left the Labour Party of their own accord because of the constant, relentless slide to the right. Mark Curtiss hase written two excellent books dealing with Britains foreign policy. Labour comes out as being worse than even the Tory scum when it comes to arming and supporting dodgy regimes around the word.
At home, Labour has thrown huge wads of cash at asset strippers like Leighton and Crozier and a whole host of wasters in the NHS etc.
Going back to the golden age of Old Labour, they withdrew membership of the party to any volunteer who fought against fascism in Spain 1936-39. In 1945, the Atlee Government was the first to give recognition to the fascist Franco government.
They're a capitalist party, no more, no less. They will never bring about real change. A few reforms and concessions from the ruling class might come our way, but certainly nothing of any substance.
They're just another divide and rule bosses party and no worker should fund them.
Don't even get me started on those Tory bastards!

In China those who are about to be shot by the state have to pay for the bullet that they will use, no one should have to pay for their own death. And that is what this government is doing Killing us by a thousand cuts, letting assit strippers like Leighton and Croizer distroy our Industry and Public Service.

And as for Gorden Brown.........I used to think he might be the answer, until I realised that the question was who would be the very same as Tony Blair.

And now Brown has bloody put that tosser Digby Jones in the Government, it was bad enough that Blair gave him a knighthood now Brown has made him a Lord and a Under Secretary of State Trade Minster in a LABOUR government.

This is an outrage, Digby Jones slaged off our Strike, we should not give the labour party the steam off our piss never mind any money.

I don't actually see any difference between a Blair and a Brown Government as for the last few years I think Brown was Blair's puppet master.

The cash-for-honours scandal has frightened off almost all the major private donors, leaving the party largely dependent on union funds.

Knowing that it can take the support of the affiliated unions for granted, the government can concentrate on appeasing the bosses.
A must read for all union members. With this attitude from the unions I reckon Laurel & Hardy can sit back with smug grins on their faces waiting for the whole striking business to collapse.

It is now vital that Unions top brass start to withdraw funding from sponsored MPs and threaten to cut ties with Labour party.

I think the union should remain as apolitical as possible and concentrate on representing their workers and protecting them from exploitation.

Although I am a Labour voter, I don't think it should be legal to buy a governement anyway.
