Maybe its your version of Word mate as i can see it! I have copied / pasted text for you.

National Strike – Why you MUST support YOUR Union
3/11/09 please hand this brief to all CWU members

• Royal Mail tells you that strikes will not strengthen the union’s hand. This is clearly not true as the current negotiations at the TUC are as a direct result of YOUR support. Remember a few weeks ago Royal Mail was refusing 3rd party intervention.
• Royal Mail tells you that the media are against the strike action. This is not the case and over the last few weeks a growing number of senior political and industrial reporters have attacked Royal Mails approach.
• You have been told that taking strike action will result in customers using other postal providers. The real risk to the future of this industry is Royal Mails obsession with budgets to the absolute detriment of the employees and customers.

• Royal Mail says they have stepped back from change so why are the Union still striking. The truth is that Royal Mail is planning a whole new set of cuts in January. If you do not support your union now then these changes will take place without any CWU involvement or influence.
• Royal Mail says that because the talks have been ‘useful and productive’ the strikes should therefore be called off. Although progress has been made it is clear that Royal Mails dictatorial approach remains and we must continue our stand until they accept that the CWU and the employee’s views have to be taken onboard as the company moves forward.
• You have been told that the CWU do not know what this dispute is about. We know exactly what the dispute is about. THE FUTURE OF THE INDUSTRY IS AT STAKE. We suggest that all CWU members ask their manager why the company continues to ignore the 76% vote of no confidence and why they refuse to accept that you want modernisation by agreement.
• Royal Mail tells you that ‘you need a strong Union’. This is peculiar really as they seem to be hell bent on removing the CWU from the workplace.
• The recent brief to Royal Mail informs you that they ‘have’ to take 2 days pay from you for the forthcoming strikes. This is false. The action is in 2 separate weeks and the deduction from 1 weeks pay is nothing more than a cheap shop aimed at demoralising the workforce. We know you rise above this.

• The business continues to push the defeated argument that this is a London Dispute. Even before the huge NATIONAL YES vote action was being taken in Scotland, Bristol, Peterborough, The South West and in Network sites across the UK. Rather than continuing to feed you lies it would be more productive if Royal Mail accepted that CWU members NATIONALLY were behind their Union.
• Your Union want a settlement to this dispute and as previously reported progress is being made. The reality of the situation though is, that only by supporting YOUR Union will we be able to deliver the agreement you deserve.

With reference to the RM Anti Strike Letter. This guff was spieled out at our WTLL session this morning by our DOM. He informed us that with regards to the two days all out strike action that this will deducted from our pay on Friday 13th November. If this remains the case then as other brothers have rightfully said we will have to budget accordingly.
"Today’s workplace has become heartless and soulless. Employees are seen as units of labour, automatons, functionaries, objects for achieving designated tasks, and as costs to be minimised."

Not sure if this has already been posted, but this was up up on the notice board in my office yesterday, and right next to the union board, it either seems like a threat or emotional blackmail, I also don't like the way they have used the nearly half of the union board to post this propaganda crap

They have the cheek to complained about the union not telling the public what this dispute is all about, what about them not telling us what their modernisation plans are, talk about double standards

yes some transparency would be grateful.i could be wrong but im certain that the cwu cant even obtain royal MAils three year business plan(if they have one).for the last 5 years they (royal mail) have been scaremongering about lost contracts even though the majority of contracts lost were companies taking advantage of d.s.a..

"We must get more income from packets and home shopping to fund the universal service to the public." That is NOT our responsibility. If the country wants a "universal service" it should be paid for by the government not the postal workers.

It is about time our management started earning their inflated salaries by telling the government that if they want us to provide a social service the government need to fund it and, while they are at it, they can point out that it is time we stopped subsidising TNT, UK Mail, DHL etc through downstream access.

Your Future Your Choice?

Post by Demonsorter »

Last night there was a brief going round the mail center! This was read out by managers with the usuall no discussion clause!

Then this morning more propaganda from the spin department was posted through my letterbox!
I am the original devils advocate! i like to hear both sides of the story and make decisions based on facts but i failed to make it through the first page of the big scary leaflet entitled "YOUR FUTURE YOUR CHOICE"!!!!!!

I got as far as :-

'We're in talks with the union facilitated by the TUC and are commited to reaching agreement - but if strikes continue there really won't ba a viable business to talk about.

Customers, competitors TV and newspapers are totally confused because the union can't explain what this dispute is about - that's why they think it's barmy.'

This coupled with the statement from management last night "We dont know why you are on strike" has just cemented my commitment to strike!

Can anybody else see the massive contradiction?

If you say you dont know why we are on strike but have been locked in negotioations for weeks then what the hell have you been negotiating???????? Have royal mail management and the CWU (us) been sitting in silence??

I say we challenge every nonsense statement! and let the robotic management suffer for having spouted such tripe!

I feel the company can't explain what this strike is all about cos then the public would see them for what they are bullys. If the company were to explain their ideology that one person or one office is doing a change / modernised approach then everybody should be doing it. Does the same reason go for getting paid thousands in bonuses that if one person in the organisation is getting it everyone should. I think not.

I see it as they have bullied one into it so everyone else should follow like sheep. Not me.
