Yes i agree with you if something is in place and he can be returned to his office by his finish time thats fair enough. Sadly this is not always the case and many get left stranded at other offices to well after their finishing time whilst the managers responsible have already gone home 2 hours earlier.

You have to also bare in mind that if you've driven to work and parked in the staff car park - won't you have to be back to your normal office of work by 1pm, as not to get your car locked in the yard all night ? Just a thought when your calculating your 'cut off time'.

We have one duty about 4 miles from the office ( and one mile from the sattelite office ), and the PT on it has got so sick and tired of being left without a lift back at the end of his duty, he calls his driver to pick up his bags ( including his first bag ) from the office when he is ready, jumps on his scooter ( not RM supplied ) and rides off to meet the driver, to collect his pouch and start delivering - then comes back at the end to drop off his 739s, signed for card, prep d2ds, etc. It might be wrong, but to be routinely left waiting for a lift for 45mins or more, in all weathers, after walking for 4 hours rouund a monster duty, I don't blame him & anytime he's off, the cover ends up with the same treatment

Yes you have a valid point as its true there is always someone worse waiting in the wings. Trouble is we have been double crossed and lied too so many times now that there comes a point where you have to say enough is enough even if it better the devil you know.

Going on strike is a dated practice in 2009 but it really is all that we are left with when all other avenues and agreements have been re-written or exhausted. Its either take some form of action or be trodden into the ground, bullied and lose even your basic working rights.

Like I say I get the original posters point being who is being asked/ordered to be flexible by an office management team (who have just been paid thousands in bonuses) which if there like mine only work about 30 hours of the 40 they are paid each week. I think if I was him I would also be annoyed.

I don't think a lot of posties realise that their normal insurance covers them for commuting to their NORMAL place of work and that they are NOT covered if they then travel (in the firms time) to another office. I checked with my insurer who told me I needed business cover if I drive my own vehicle AFTER I have arrived at work whether or not I am carrying mail

Pay and mod 2007 staff in place at time of agreement are able to be moved to another office only if they volunteer, staff employed since then would be contracted to work in other offices in the cluster.
