Ref:- Harry Potter Book.
I understand that royal mail has written to dave ward[CWU] and asked him not to take industrial action on friday the 20 july which is the day that the new harry potter book is released to the public ready for delivery on saturday the 21st. As a result of this statement do royal mail expect us to fulfill this request just for the friday and to return to work as if nothing has been going on in weeks gone by with loss of pay to those of us that stand firm with strike action.Whilst I sympathise with customers I feel that if royal mail wishes to have thier wish granted that they get back around the table with CWU and sort this dispute out once and for all....If dave ward decides that we wont strike on friday the 20th then i for one will wash my hands with the union. (':no no')

Chances are the 20th wasn't on the cards anyway. General feeling has it down as the 13th and the 16th, and as we are only doin one day a week at the moment it is unlikely that we would also be out on the 16th.
However the cheeky bastards are still basically saying, look we're not going to negotiate, just try to avoid the 20th though will you?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
