If they are sat there them not all of them are, I've seen some being installed just recently, not sure if they are in use yet though.....

Hello, the RM purchased a number of these machines from Solystic, but then realised it could have saved millions. This would have been by utalising the existing NP4000 machine (LSM) and simply reprogramming for walk sorting purposes. Essentially the dynamics of the machine are similar, so why a new machine needed to have been developed and paid for is anyones guess. Anyway as usual the company is under contract, so would probably cost more to pull out the deal than to carry on.
Oh, and I dont believe there are machines pilfered away in Birmingham ...

The Solystic CSS machines are destined for DOs country-wide, while NPs are primarily MC machines and have insufficient spare capacity to run O/W, I/W, walk sort AND walk sequencing.

RM didn't pay for the CSSs to be "developed" either, as they are an essentially off-the-shelf machine.

Looks like the Solystic's are proving to be a bit of a pig in a poke. Somebody has their head in a noose over this innovation ,hence the headless chicken cost cutting drive.
Massive set up costs and minimal savings. Purchase, floor space,juice, maintenance,operators ,conveyance all for 5-7 mins saving prep per walk Big boob
3 -4 runs to get satisfactory sequencing for each walk ,not do able in the ? seconds break even time. Someone got sold a pup Heads will roll eventually

I have no doubt the sequencing machines will work eventually but the only real saving I can see if from using unskilled temporary workers.
A temp on minimum wage with sequenced mail could prep a walk in about the same time as a seasoned postie.

Can anyone in the Edinburgh MC tell me why we were getting Sequenced tray's of mail through in the FK area's for about 3 months then it just completely stopped? We haven't had any sequenced mail at all for about 6-7 weeks.

EDIT: Also, any Glasgow MC people, because I assume we'd get some from over there as well :P

I'm guessing that at times of reduced mech capacity, walk sequencing will be the first thing to have been put on hold in the MC.
