these percentages mean nothing,RM have learned from the last dispute and have completely changed their policy regarding worker relations .
last time there was a total ban on requests for annual leave, days off were fixed ,and overtime was out of the question .
all of these decisions have been completely reversed ,but more cynically RM are exploiting the fact that the percentage of full-part time has significantly altered,my own take on this is RM seem resigned to the fact that a full-timer has already decided and can afford to forgo a days wages, and they are going out of their way to help the guys on 30/25 hours, who have my sympathy .
this is where the union have dropped the ball,by asking members to take a 2 day hit,it will cause many to drift back in,we all know on this forum what is at stake, but many, who are already disillusioned with the union and remarkably think we are out to support london, and stay out through a sense of loyalty, will i'm afraid see this as an excuse to go back in.

Re: 25% in work ?????
Mailcentre staff and drivers working nightshift Wednesday into Thursday had to complete their shifts as the I/A started at 4am on Thursday. We don't finish until 6am , and some drivers don't finish until 7.30am. That's why D.O's still got mail on Thursday morning. On Thursday , managers were running some mech as well as doing S.D's and Tracked so D.O's would have got some mail on Friday too. Managers drove the vans on Friday morning to the D.O's.OnAFlyer wrote: 43,000 MC staff were supposed to be out Thurs-Fri but my office still got tons of mail (and our feeder MC was 95% out)
Someone's doing a lot of work still.
D.O's will still get mail on Friday 6th as we have to complete Thursday nightshift. On Saturday , you will get some mail from the managers working Friday. There are staff working on Saturday and Sunday (including Sunday nightshift), so there will be mail going out to D.O's on Monday morning , and on Monday , the managers will be doing the same again so D.O's will get some mail from them on Tuesday morning. Hope this helps.
Oh , and out of about 1000 staff here, only 9 strike breakers went in on Thursday

Re: 25% in work ?????
If the figures aren't massaged then it must be the 25% who did not vote yes (cancelling those in mail centers against those not in) the union.
I don't like the figure and I don't personally believe it but it could be true. The thing that is on our favour is that RM is somewhat like a production line - mail comes in , is sorted, distributed, prepped, resorted and delivered - and production lines just don't work at at that level. Most of those strikers are costing Royal Mail money because the job can't be done with a 25% attendance, the logistics just doesn't work.

Re: 25% in work ?????
tmac,
it's been incredibly difficult getting members to support the union here in west yorkshire, and i can tell you that the branch have done absolutely nothing to help delivery offices, and the common theme is,"well we're already doing all the things they want london to do,so why should we go on strike"
and i say again, having difficulty in the first instance getting that support, the unions latest action, however justified will not be helpful.
it's nothing to do with wether or not i'm up for the fight, but addressing the issues of real apathy towards the union at local level.
the reality is communication again has been awful, and ask a lot of postmen up here in yorkshire why their on strike, and they don't really know.
as i say tmac, these are not my views,i'm merely telling you the position ,but in my opinion ,i can see people drifting back in,and this has played into RM 's hands.

That work may have come from one of the SC*B mail centres. In our delivery office we had virtually zero work on Friday.OnAFlyer wrote:43,000 MC staff were supposed to be out Thurs-Fri but my office still got tons of mail (and our feeder MC was 95% out)oneweepostiee wrote:you will find out soon enough on monday

Re: 25% in work ?????
At our office almost 75% worked the last strike day.
I wasn't one of them.
But having read about the fresh strikes i feel the union might be making a mistake.Feelings aren't that strong at our office.I myself haven't really got any issue with how our office is run.
I'll carry on striking but i can see many more turning up and weakening our position because too many strikes in a short space of time will lead to people deciding whether to carry on supporting it.
Its a lot of money to lose if you don't feel that strongly. As i said i will carry on regardless but many wont.
I don't think 25% in work is an unbelievable figure from what i've heard locally.
