ive seen a couple of spys and i always just stare at them to let them know im watching their every move
there have been incidents where real criminals have targetted trolleys so you have to be vigilant
:Applause :Applause

Simply tell Plod that you've seen the same van with the same reg and same occupants on more the one occasion parked up on different parts of your walk. Tell them your a full timer at your office and have no clue who these people could be. Better still, ask one of your customers to also call and inform the Police that they are very suspicious of this car outisde their house ! Oh and mentioned they may be black and armed..the Police will be there before you put the 'phone down! :whistle :whistle

they could be stripped & body searched with the gloves :left: with Fido & Rex jumping about and making a row :cuppa

Seriously there is something in it . RM would say you're being " managed " - however it's the fine line you cross with excessive / over zealous supervision to H&B .

We had similar things prior to Privatization , you'd get horror stories about being " followed " / " patrolled " that didn't need embellishing that " coincidentally " came from places that were staffed by this new breed of post graduates rather than the old school hard but fair men of knowledge - A bit like RM with the ex military managers ?

There was method in the madness , it was quite deliberate to create a culture of fear , to soften people up for privatization , basically union busting :hmmmm

The other similarity was as Teebs has said , with a very regimented style of management , there isn't many opportunities to impress so silly things happen .

Some people had been or were taking the p*** but with ordinary people just doing their jobs , it would be right to call their bluff and play them at their own game :hmmmm

In one case one lad got followed after his shift to a bar , he just happened to know the bouncers and told them he was being bothered . In those days , bouncers could have long criminal records :whistle :whistle :whistle

No doubt Mark White will be writing another article   :hmmmm for that union bashing site .

I've cut off once in 12 years (so my managers know full well I don't take the p*ss) - that day a manager drove past me as I was near the end of the walk, I knew he was looking for me as the road he came out of doesn't lead anywhere :chuckle

That's how much management trust us - and I would say my managers are pretty good!

I haven't noticed anyone watching me but I wouldn't put it past them (to catch a mistake, not an indiscretion).

What I have noticed is a large number of the silent minority on this site having very polar views against the strike in a semi-organised fashion. Every day brings an inflammatory post against the strike which sidetracks the main topic or expresses a stupid opinion. I can't believe they are all random, nor are they irregular (i.e. two posts on one day and none the next or more on stirke days etc). The only explination I can see is Royal Mail's propoganda and to perhaps over think the issue, it would be foolish for Royal Mail not to try such a thing.

Over all, spy's on the walks .. not unless you are asking for it. Spy's on this forum ... yes probably.

So because RM employed me part time to work hours that suit them and put me on a duty which takes longer than my hours 75% of the time. I cut off to collect kids from school, I don't take the piss but your suggesting I getting spied on (which I do on a regular basis) is my fault.

Yeh right!
Royal Mail won't break me, though its been fairly close recently!

I think he means more "organised" spying rather than managers just being idiots trying to catch you finishing early.

Don't know whether this happens in other offices, but our Cluster DOM sends out 'stooge' mail containing a digital device inside the letter that sends a message to his office when the said letter has arrived at its destination, so he knows exactly what time we get to a certain delivery point on our round.

I've tried explaining this to the 'runners' in our office who say that once the proposed changes come in they will just slow down...too late by then i say.....you will have to prove why you cannot do your work as fast as normal to them. I might as well just go and talk to a brick wall!! :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

How does that work? Surely the person who receives the letter must have to do something and what if they arent in or are in their bed when the mail comes and dont notice it till hours later?
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

You may be confusing them with "tracker letters" which are used to check the network and can be "recognised" by a sensor above your D.O/M.C. door.

Perhaps yes.....I was on rehab for a while and saw 20 or so of these letters in my DOM's office, i asked what they were for and he said that certain walks in the office had delivery points that had sensors behind the door that triggered the sensors inside the mail and sent a message of arrival to the Cluster DOM's office much like the 'tracker letters'

I took him at his word as unlike some of the nightmare Managers you hear about on here he is for the most part a decent guy.

The argument that RM will use that it's " quality control " & " supervision / monitoring / managing " - don't shoot the messenger ! - however as you've got something that is neither one thing or the other and is a square peg being rammed into a round hole ; it'll be handled badly and the thin dividing line into H&B will be crossed .

You will get jumped up sh***hawks that are out of their depth and the elevator doesn't quite go to the top BUT I agree with the bit about organized spying , in my experience it's to create a culture of fear to soften people up for privatization and there is a union busting element . Things are done for reasons no matter how illogical or insensible they may seem in RM and other public sector workplaces .
