2nd Strike Date Announced

i get the feeling that cwu want government intervention between now & thurs 12th. I think then we will go for the two days probably fri20th & mon 23rd, allowing us to deliver harry potter & hopefully retaining public support which we need, to keep the pressure on the 2 bloody idiots who are trying to run this show!!!. I thought Dave Ward came across spot on when interviewed on tv, all i ask of my fellow colleagues is remember we must stick together, got to think long term not just short term losing the odd days pay compared to losing your job full stop, STAY STRONG LADS & LASSES,WE MUST NOT LOSE THIS

yes, ONE DAYERS WILL NOT WORK. lets face it lads they just are not gonna back down over one dayers they dont do enough damage and from what ive heard off the public they dont give a toss if the mail is a day late cos it usually is anyway haha!! Also i agree that there will be mre people scabbing if the one dayers continue, i know people who thought that the last 1 dayer would be enough to do the job and they are not willing to strikemore!!! GET REAL!!! One thing ive learnt off this site is we all got to stick together BUT....1 dayers are NOT the solution. Someone mentioned to strike on the harry potter days, well we have got to be realistic also about not losing massive contracts as well........

IM SAYING DROP THE STRIKES FOR A WHILE AND WTR!!!!

More damage less cost to members!!!

I'm pleased this time that the strike is 7pm till 7pm. This is a far more sensible time and saves confruntaions with picket lines in the morning for night workers. The 7pm - 7pm is likly to hit harder than the 3am - 3am as like others have said, it will affect Nights the one night then lates the next which will in essence affect two days deliverys.

Just a thought but as i was on a rant about one dayers ... i reckon theres gonna be a lot of them so why didnt we just go for a full week get it over with, max impact! No one cares about one dayers every 2 weeks!!! They get absorbed!!!

Great letter, one downside Royal Mail will simply ignore it. No one can afford to strike for the next 6 months yet no one can afford to loose their job.

It is going to take something big from both sides to save grace on this matter, call me a scab if you must but with a family to support I cannot afford to loose more wages even harder when you factor in MDEC staff are Â£50 a week worse off than posites.

A Fri followed by a Mon is the only way to show RM, really don't get your hopes up RM will bully there deal through like it or lump it.

surprised they didn't decide to strike on the following Monday as well - maybe it's being saved for Harry Potter day - can we expect another announcement soon?

sadly......VERY sadly, this is the feeling ive got on this also and strikes are the worst way to get a point across imo, work to rule may just show them that they havent got it as sussed as they think and they may need to re-think.

Hmmmmm, weve got to be carefull with these strikes also tho mate, people seem to be very forgetful these days that there is a multitude of competition out there now, we aint in the monopoly days no more bro, weve got to keep big customers sweet or its curtains for the lot of us long before leighton gets his way!!!!!

So in one thread you say lets go all out for a week.
Then in another you say 1 days are ok but a wtr would be better.
Now you say we've got to keep the competition sweet.
Any advance on that.........

no mate ive never said one days are ok try reading properly before diving in eh, what i said was they are in fact useless and as it now looks like theres gonna be quite a few more useless one dayers why not just make it a one of 5 dayer we would lose the same money and make a hell of a lot more impact, mate no one gave a toss that we were out for a day FACT. Oh and why on earth shouldnt i think about keeping customers (not competition , 2nd error u having a go at me for) sweet? They pay my AND YOUR mortgage mate and are you gonna try and tell me that NO companies are gonna try a different courier during our strikes?

I don't particularly like the idea of letting the public down as my customers are one of the reasons I like the job, but I would be curious to see if the so called competition could compete on an intensive mail out like the release date of a major book title and achieve the standard of delivery we set on the last one. I still think the competition waiting in the wings is s**t scared of walking onto the stage because it just isn't up to the part it aspires to.
