A failure of leadership, culture and priorities
This phrase was used in today's damning report on the Nimrod tragedy. Anyone else see similarities....

Re: A failure of leadership, culture and priorities
Actually plenty guys are seriously hurt at work due to slips because they have too much work on. I know of a guy who had a stroke on duty because he was doing 50hr weeks as a new starter! And god knows how many posties have gone to an early grave becasue of the strains on the body this work involves. Can we blame the life-changing dog attacks and lost fingers on management as well? May be not.

With the way my head is at at the moment, it might not be far off - if I do cash in my chips, I'd make sure my note puts my claret on Crozier's, Mandelson's, Brown's and Blair's handsulster postie wrote:Thankfully no one has died yet, :mfo :cfo :lfo

Re: A failure of leadership, culture and priorities
There was a shift in culture and priorities in the MoD towards business and financial targets at the expense of functional values such as safety and airworthiness.
It's primary focus became delivering change and the change programme and achieving the so-called strategic goal of a 20% reduction in outward costs in 5 years and other financial savings.
Should have got this guy to write the report on Royal Mail instead of Hooper.

Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Re: A failure of leadership, culture and priorities
I couldn't have them on my conscience - the problem of having & trying to maintain principles ( not something they have to worry about, admittedly )opgpat wrote:You'd be better off taking them with you mate.smokerjim wrote: With the way my head is at at the moment, it might not be far off - if I do cash in my chips, I'd make sure my note puts my claret on Crozier's, Mandelson's, Brown's and Blair's hands
