What a sad thread and what a buch of numptys we work with.
How can it be that FT and PT don't get on.
Aint we all in this together, aren't we all the same except for a few hrs a day difference.

Everyone regardless of their hrs should come in at their correct time,if you can't finish or your walk is not prepped then that's tough on Royal Mail.
And what is all this bollox of scamming docket so PT's can't get it.

What a bunch of c***s we work with. All concerened should hang their heads in shame!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

(he wasn't talking about me was he? :hmmmm )

I'd just say ALL of this conflict has been caused by management decisions and maybe, just maybe we have fallen for their trick.

i would just like to add something look at first page of this thread. the original poster el_cartero and a bit lower down by moodyarse. both joined yesterday and both have a post count of ONE. as has already been said royal mail management divide and rule strategy. i really like moodarses post, full timers being nasty to poor helpless part timers and couldn't give a sh1t new boy part timers walking through picket lines. something for everybody to get upset about, clever. it would be better if we all pulled the same way. :wave

well said, it is bad enough having to deal with managers nevermind part ime and full timers falling out with each other on here, in our office we stick together full time and part time

despite all that's been said about full time and part time workers,i have been with royal mail for 38 years and speak to anybody irrespective of length of service.
everybody comes to work for 1 thing to earn money,so people trying to divide the staff are probably managers in disguise.

Some of these quotes made by part timers in regards to full time staff is f***ing laughable to say the least, someof you need to give your head a wobble before spouting complete cack eh??

I start exactly 1 hour before my actual start time, prep "MY" own walk, which is heavy even on tues, then have to prep poss the heaviest walk in the office everyday instead of going on the sorting. Now im fairly quick at prepping walks but i sometimes struggle to get the both up before the part timer comes in. Now most part timers at my office are on 6 hour a day contracts therefore they should be prepping some of that walk, also the knock downs and re directions which most at our place simply do not do and are left for the regular postie to do when he returns back to work, also most think its beneath them to deliver catalogues, packets and voting stuff when they arrive. Take today, i prepped the part timers walk, he came in and emptied his bag which contained a massive bundle of missorts. Now if that was a full timer at our place we'd be done for willful delay and sacked as some already have but our dom's seem to turn a blind eye to what the part timers seem to do, and that does get most of us at work. Complaints have gone through the roof on vacant walks which are covered by part timers,ie, re direction failures, mis deliveries, etc. Basically at our place we have around 12 part timers, 4 of them are good at thier job the rest are f***ing useless.

why are you 'peeing parcels' out of interest?

Well you are being harsh there Jimmy if not totally unrealistic (or are you joking I'm not sure)?
HOW ON EARTH can you prep your packet bag, do you deads and redirects all in FIVE MINS?! NOOOO FEEECKIN WAY! You deserva a GOLD star! That in reality is 15-30mins work depending on round and day of week.

Newpostie - in our office PT'er DO NOT do the extra bit. I repeat they DO NOT do it as it is not assigned to them. Check you are actually supposed to be doing it. Also I totally sympathise as I'm PT too and typically come in to see all the FT'ers are half prepped or doing their packet bag. So from the off you are 40mins or more behind them AND you have an earlier finish time!!! You get stuck in while the FT'er are chatting away then come 'right of way' they all walk out while you are still throwing in flats. It's a disgrace. Then to top it all your bag driver stands behind you moaning about you making him late out and accusing you of being slow? FFS.

FT'ers moaning on here should remember they are actually paid to do IPS and if they are complaining about the workload think about this - comming in to an empty frame at 8am to see everyone else is finishing off their flats. Then listen to FTers going 'oh come on what's wrong with you' and drivers moaning about you making them late out. The pressure to get bags ready for the driver some days does my nut in and most days getting any d2d in the frame is with best intentions, asking for the driver to smack you one.
In my experience PT'ers prep their frames faster than FTers, cause they have to.[/quote

Well said that man ! Im a part- timer 30 hour contact I come in at 7 every morning cover the same five duties every week. Been doing the same five jobs for a while now. So can pretty much prep, tie up ,and do the re directions in 1.30 to 2 hours. That mainly down to the fact ive had to. I feel sorry for some part- timers in my office on under 30 hour contracts who come in at 8 to very little boxed in Due to people being of sick and not enough people to prep there walks. Or down to the fact our dom knows these part-timers will start to come in early :no no just so they don't have to struggle when they get out on the street. And by them coming in early they will never work past there finish time. So will never claim overtime even though there probably working about five hours a week for nothing ! As far as doing redirection , killing of mail and sorting out packets in five minutes. That's sounds like RAMBLINGS of a mad man! Some walks have 20+ re directions. As a previous poster has said this part- time full -time dispute is playing right into the royal mails hands. They are very aware most part- time staff are not in the union. So by causing a divide The part time staff are less lightly to support The full time staff and may want to come in on strike days. that's why i think alot of new part-timers in my office on under 30 hour contracts have been given there own walks. That's my conspiracy theory . Were all in this together in my view that's the only way we will get anything positive out of this mess ! :cfo :mfo

I get 6 hours to do what they get 8 hours to do
The part time staff that do delivery only are coming in to their walks being ready to go,this is because we have sort your stuff before we even get to ours, this is instead of a full time member being on the IPS which i hasten to add has a lot more stuff on it than it should have, for some of us we have to do other priffrel work plus dig out on IPS and we have been told that there is less to prep because there is less mail
My delivery like most other full timers delivery is now 4.5 hours long thanks to peggie 2 by the time we leave the office we only have 3 hours to do the job so if we dont cut off we are being pushed to work longer hours just to get our delivery done so i don't think your getting such a raw deal.
Our office has tried to make all the new staff that have been employed above the temp part time staff welcome even though we are fighting to get them contracts which they should of had in the first place even though we are getting provocation from our DOM who thinks he's a wide boy and hard with it who also hides behind its what we need to do as a business.
If you get pleasure walking past them on the picket line thats ok but always think who has got your pay and conditions for you and please dont think Royal Mail was being good to you,the people who stand outside on strike days are the people who have lost to make sure you gained.
You have only done 9 months well done but i feel that you might see your delivery as less of a challenge when you have been doing for as long as some of us 20 odd years ago is when i got taken on as a delivery casual and i loved it but after 11 years in doors i went back out on deliverys that was 7 years back, like you i use to see it as a challenge but trust me they will knock it out of you,so just to finish hope you have a nice day at work :Very Happy

wtf is a kill off ??

i have to constantly deal with 20 - 30 re directions and rarely does it go under 20 at any given time and in our office delivery spans are well over the agreed 3.5 hours
