Nationwide postal strikes will go ahead as planned this week, the union said.

Strikes will begin from 0400 GMT on Thursday, when 120,000 postal workers will walk out for three 24-hour strikes.

Royal Mail and the Communication Workers Union have been talking for three days to try to end the dispute.

The union executive didn't even consider calling off the strikes, according to BBC employment correspondent Martin Shankleman.

They should now immediately announce stoppages next wednesday to friday which is the earliest we can come out again - keep the pressure on

i just watched sky news guy is outside the cwu and said they are still talking,
at the moment strikes still on but still a chance they will be called off.

sorry, might have been a bit premature.....

anyone else wish we were more informed? how about a recorded phone line we could ring at a certain time to get the news. or even get their act together on the cwu website.
